There are countless people who dream of owning a Ferrari, but only a select few actually have that honor.

The next best thing may be the latest video generated from IC Realtime’s extreme testing of its upcoming 720-degree CCTV camera technologies. Working with Scuderia Corsa Racing with Ferrari, the Pompano, Fla.-based manufacturer IC Realtime is testing the reliability of its state-of-the-art surveillance technologies in the most extreme environment it could find: the racetrack.

Dealers interested in seeing the technology can visit the company at the annual ISC West Show in Las Vegas on April 2-4 at its booth (#23005). The company explains the 720-degree camera technologies provide the durability and robustness of no moving parts and no blind spots.

“Pulling from experience in having brought to market our single-lens Immersive-360 camera line, our R&D (research and development) division has pioneered a remote-viewing platform comprised of proprietary software [that] leverages gyroscopic movement technology and a dual-lens, 720-degree camera system,” explains Ivan Onuchin, executive vice president of R&D, IC Realtime. “By incorporating many software sensors and synchronizing both front and rear spheres [camera lenses] together, we’re able to capture 360-degree video to create a 3D-like experience that puts the viewer completely in the center of the action. This will create a realm of endless possibilities for what can be achieved in video surveillance. It is nothing short of remarkable.”

The 720-degree technology will debut later this year in a new series of two-lens megapixel cameras called IC720. The line of products will offer dealers versions that incorporate interchangeable sensors and lenses to address a range of security applications.

Matt Sailor, CEO of IC Realtime, notes that through its work with Scuderia Corsa Racing with Ferrari and its number 63 458 Italia race car, the company is able to develop a benchmark security solution that’s been tested in the harshest of environments.

“We originally spec’ed the technology for automobile racing as it’s one of the most extreme testing grounds we can get our hands on. It’s first application is in Scuderia Corsa’s Ferrari 458 Italia number 63 [which] is a car that is currently competing on the U.S. circuit, and [it has] won the championship last year,” he points out. “Soon the very same technology that we are testing with Scuderia Corsa Racing with Ferrari will be available for all types of elite surveillance applications. This will be an industry game changer.”
