Published: 2014-10-31

Happy Halloween, CI readers! If you’re anything like me, you’ve waited until the last possible second to think of a Halloween costume for tonight.

Maybe you have a party to go to, or maybe you’re taking your kids trick-or-treating. And you’ll probably just wear that same mask or witch’s hat you always wear. Unless…

Mark Rober, a former NASA engineer with a knack for technology and creativity, has put together 24 high-tech Halloween costumes that will beat the pants off that old mask you wear year after year. And not to worry, this is something you can pull off at the last minute. The costumes are simple — all you need is a T-shirt and a smartphone or tablet.

FEATURED REPORT

Rober’s first design, an iPad “hole in the chest” costume, went viral on YouTube a few years ago. He has since quit his job as a NASA engineer and devoted himself full time to epic costume-making.

To create his original designs, Rober teamed up with Gregor Lawson of MorphCostumes. The resulting company, Digital Dudz, sells T-shirts, body suits and masks that have a hidden pouch for a smartphone or tablet inside. Then all you have to do is download a free Android or iPhone app called Morphsuits, and slip the device inside the pouch.

Confused? Learn how Mark Rober creates his high-tech Halloween masterpieces in the video below.

Or click here to go inside the costumes — well, not literally. Although if you’re costume-less tonight, it might be worth a shot.

You can get your very own high-tech costume on the Morphsuits website.
