Diversified technology company 3M has launched its developer network for interactive multitouch developers and designers in UK and the rest of Europe.

The introduction follows hot on the heels of the network’s launch in the US earlier this year. European members who have signed up include such eminent names as Intuilab, NUITEQ, Omnivision Studios, Solatys and Touchtech.

According to 3M, the network is a web-based resource that gives carefully selected designers and developers – including independent software vendors (ISVs) and resellers – an opportunity to showcase a range of applications to a global audience of potential customers.

Visitors to the developer network site can access an array of videos demonstrating a wide variety of multitouch applications, across sectors including gaming, retail, hospitality and entertainment venues, corporate information and training. The site also provides additional information about each of the member companies’ expertise, track record and contact details.

Paolo Pedrazzoli, who is EMEA marketing operations manager for Touch Systems at 3M Europe, told Commercial Integrator Europe: “The network helps to address several objectives for us. First, for any companies interested in developing their own multi-touch solutions, it gives them some great examples for inspiration. Second, it gives potential end-user companies for multi-touch technology a chance to connect with some of the selected and qualified the partners who 3M is already working with. Third, it is a great showcase for the potential of 3M’s multi-touch products, which in turn will help to attract more high calibre partners across the region.

“We’re receiving a great deal of interest in our range, but in order to take full advantage of a fast growing ecosystem this is a highly competitive market, so we need to be as visible as possible. The network helps us achieve that, while also helping our partners and giving their customers a useful resource.”
