Alarm.com, known for its cloud-based security and home automation solutions, has acquired Secure-i, a provider of professional commercial video surveillance services, which will help the firm enter into the commercial market.

The strategic deal allows Alarm.com to offer standalone, commercial-grade video solutions that includes cloud-based hosted services and Axis Communications’ high definition (HD) cameras.

“[We are] committed to providing our channel partners with the best solutions for both the residential and commercial market segments,” says Jeff Bedell, chief strategy and innovation officer for Alarm.com.

The two companies note that the deal was a perfect fit because of the firms’ deep alignment between product offerings and commitment to dealer partners.

Dealers and integrators of both companies can now deliver everything from residential smart home solutions to large commercial installations requiring dozens of high-end cameras, multi-site management and a flexible range of secure streaming and recording options.

“Cloud services continue to dramatically change the way security and automation services are delivered, but the primary focus has been on the home,” Bedell says. “Alarm.com’s acquisition of Secure-i … complements other investments we are making to bring a full range of interactive services to the commercial segment.”

Secure-i’s flexible solution architecture includes a wide selection of high-end commercial grade cameras from Axis and 24/7 cloud streaming with redundant on-camera and local storage for continuous HD recording.

The ability to integrate Secure-i’s hosted video solution with Alarm.com’s network infrastructure will offer dealers a scalable, fully redundant, easy to install and highly competitive professional hosted video solutions, according to a company press release.

“This acquisition lets us maintain our focus on delivering leading solutions and services to our partners,” Secure-i CEO William Larrabee says. “The Secure-i team will continue with the same great support to our customers and also offer Alarm.com dealers the opportunity to extend their solutions to the commercial environment.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
