AV Associations That Deserve Attention: AVTweeps Everyone in the Industry Should Follow, Part 3

We’ve shared our favorite opinion-shapers and the young Twitter stars who make it so much fun to be part of the AVTweeps community. Now it’s time to turn our attention to the groups and associations we rely on to do our jobs better every day.

As an added bonus, don’t forget to follow the man who was once one of you before squaring off with Arnold Schwarzenegger in a quest for a Turbo-Man action figure in the holiday classic “Jingle All the Way.”

@AVIXA

The association formerly known as InfoComm International is a go-to resource for training opportunities, trade shows around the world and regional meetings.

You should also check in with executive director David Labuskes, senior director of communications Brad Grimes, senior staff instructor/bacon enthusiast Chuck Espinoza and COO/triathlete Heidi Voorhees among others for their perspectives on what’s going on in AV and beyond.

The National System Contractors Association offers white papers, training tools and one of the industry’s highest-regarded annual shows, the Business and Leadership Conference, along with the Pivot to Profit conference focused on recurring revenue. Executive director Chuck Wilson is a sporadic tweeter, but you should be there when he drops his 140- or 280-character knowledge bombs.

The NSCA Education Foundation raises money for the Ignite workforce development initiative, PASS K-12 school safety effort, programs aimed at bringing former veterans in the AV space and more.

The AV Nation crew — including founder Tim Albright and the other side of his brain, George Tucker along with show hosts Dawn Meade and Steve Greenblatt — touts itself as “the go-to source for audiovisual news and information.” These men and women seem to add a new podcast or feature every week aimed at keeping AVtweeps informed.

This industry association focuses on the needs of the IT community. CEO Todd Thibodaux is a go-to resource for all matters IT.

The Security Industry Association is always thinking about ways to keep people safer.

This group knows how to party and prides itself on advocating for the concerns of women trying to navigate the AV industry.

The former Women of InfoComm are making more of a name for themselves under their new name and hosting more local events than ever before.

@AVGivesBack

This feed focuses on some of the many causes AVTweeps can support to help those in and related to their industry.

The PSNI Global Alliance now covers the entire world, but it will never forget its humble roots.

The most dangerous band in AV has been playing together for more than a decade, raising more than $1 million for the NSCA Education Foundation. Members Steve Emspak, Marc Hochlerin and Felix Robinson check in occasionally with news about the band and the AV industry.
