Discretion is often overlooked when it comes to electronics systems installation, and it’s the small things like wall wart power supplies that usually upset the rules of electronics systems discretion.
The Skinny: Altronix‘s line of NetWay PoE Midspans can’t fix the aesthetics of an ugly touchscreen or eyesore A/V system, but the products can eliminate the need for wall wart power supplies in a security system.
The Specs: Altronix says the PoE Midspans are engineered to provide power to cameras and edge devices with a maximum output of 30 watts per port. The Brooklyn, N.Y.-based company says the products are IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at (PoE) compliant to support PoE and non-PoE IP devices. Cameras and other devices can be powered from as far away as 328 feet, and those distances can be increased through the addition of the company’s NetWayXT repeater modules. The line includes the NetWay8M, which features eight ports and a total power output of 150 watts and the NetWay16M, incorporates 16 ports and a total power output of 300 watts. Both products are designed to fit 1U EIA rack spaces and are UL/CUL (UL 60950-1) Listed.
The Solutions: The NetWay PoE Midspans are designed for networked surveillance systems.
