Elk Glass Break Sensor Uses Pattern Recognition Technology

Published: 2014-08-20

Elk Products is a manufacturer of security, energy management and control devices, and recently the company added to its line of security solutions.

The Skinny: The Hildebran, N.C.-based manufacturer’s new ELK-6040 Two-Way Wireless Glass Break Sensor is designed for a variety of system applications to augment the coverage capabilities of installed security systems.

The Specs: According to Elk, the glass break sensor listens for actual patterns of breaking glass across the entire audio spectrum using its Pattern Recognition Technology. Elk explains the factory set recognition patterns make it possible to detect the difference between breaking glass and the sound of something like a drinking glass breaking within a room.

Elk also points out the two-way device listens after every transmission for a positive acknowledgement from the control, and because of this it does not waste energy repeating transmissions.

Solutions: Elk Products says the ELK-6040 Two-Way Wireless Glass Breaker can be used for light commercial and residential security system installations.
