Former NSCA President and Industry Icon Per Haugen Passes Away

NSCA recently announced that its former president and industry icon Per Haugen passed away on June 29, 2016 at age 86. 

Originally from Norway, Haugen became an American citizen and went on to build his own company, General Communications, in Salt Lake City.  He later became the president of NSCA and a leader in the industry.

In remembering Hauguen, NSCA says in its announcement, “Per was a mentor to so many people.  Per was instrumental in the launch of the NSCA Education Foundation.  His commitment to the development of integrators, furthering the cause of quality companies, and expanding the influence of NSCA’s mission inspired the association to honor him for his hard work and commitment by awarding him the first and most prestigious award; The NSCA Per Haugen Lifetime Achievement Award.  Many have been honored and recognized for their outstanding life achievements by receiving this award in subsequent years.  He leaves a strong legacy that is a true inspiration for all.”
