HDBaseT Alliance Installer Expert Program Approved for InfoComm RUs

Published: 2014-12-11

The HDBaseT Alliance has officially been named an InfoComm International Renewal Unit (RU) Provider, and its two Installer Expert Programs — in person and online — can be completed to earn RUs for professionals working toward InfoComm’s Certified Technology Specialist credential.

This will benefit more than 9,000 professionals currently certified or earning RUs toward InfoComm certification in this field.

“The HDBaseT Alliance has shown a commitment to bettering the audiovisual industry through the delivery of quality training that supports accreditation,” says David Labuskes, executive director of InfoComm. “By fostering professional development, the HDBaseT Alliance has demonstrated its leadership and strong support of the industry.”

All RU programs must feature experienced and qualified instructors, relevant learning objectives or industry-related purpose, specific exam topics and an assessment tool to demonstrate participant success. These criteria are reviewed by InfoComm University’s Certification Renewal Unit Committee.

The HDBaseT Installer Expert Program looks at the principles of HDBaseT technology — practical applications, technology principles, installation do’s and don’t’s, best practices, product certification and interoperability. Students will also learn about Spec 2.0 and receive a hands-on tutorial and demonstration.

The in-person course offers 1.5 RUs and the online course offers 1 RU. (No hands-on tutorial in the online course.)

“The HDBaseT Installer Zone was created to provide installers and integrators in our industry with all resources related to HDBaseT technology,” says Ariel Sobelman, president of the HDBaseT Alliance.

“As such, the HDBaseT Installer Expert Program, both in person at industry’s events and online, is one step further in the goal of enriching professionals with unbiased, expert knowledge that will benefit the sector as a whole,” Sobelman continues. “It is an honor to be able to offer these professionals InfoComm Renewal Units upon completion of the courses.”
