Honeywell Debuts Connected Building Technologies at ASIS 2011
Honeywell's presence at ASIS 2011 will focus on "connected building" technologies.

Reducing inefficiencies is the name of the game for many organizations. Most companies can’t afford negative impacts to their bottom line.

At ASIS 2011 in Orlando, Honeywell (booth No. 1901) is unveiling solutions aimed at helping organizations streamline operations by integrating security with building control systems.

Among Honeywell’s products that can help create “connected buildings” is software that allows video surveillance to be easily folded into building systems, network video recorders, and remote-monitoring services.

“The face of security technology has changed dramatically over the last few years, and today’s organizations are looking for more than a security system, they’re looking for something that will contribute to the bottom line,” says Ron Rothman, president of Honeywell Security Group. “Many of the additions we’ve been making to our portfolio are designed to fit security and broader business needs such as productivity and efficiency.”

Some of the Honeywell security product on display at ASIS include:

The Rapid Eye Driver Software Tool: Combines Honeywell’s flagship Rapid Eye digital video recorder (DVR) with integration software maker Tridium Inc.’s Niagara Framework. This allows installers to more easily connect video surveillance with traditional building automation technology, such as environmental controls, energy management and lighting systems. This enables tasks such as diagnosing heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance issues, or detecting water leaks using video.

New Pro-Watch Security Management System: New features include a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) single-door controller that allows organizations to add one door at a time to an existing Pro-Watch system and open integration with the Honeywell Software Development Kit (HSDK), allowing it to easily integrate with third-party systems.

Total Connect 2.0: Allows business owners to remotely manage security systems using web-enabled devices and be alerted to both security and non-security events, such as a water pipe bursting or sudden change in indoor air temperature. The system’s multi-site feature allows users to upload images of their locations and click on a photo to remotely check status. Users can also efficiently manage these sites by customizing access settings for contractors, employees, cleaning crews, etc.

VISTA Turbo Series Control Panels: These panels, which integrate intrusion, video and access control across large commercial properties, support up to six graphic touchscreen keypads, are compatible with Total Connect 2.0, and feature faster clock speed to enable a more-robust performance.
