It goes without saying that InfoComm is pretty smart when it comes to training. The organization’s announcement that it will provide a technology school in São Paulo, Brazil with licensing to InfoComm International’s curricula seems smart on several levels.

The agreement with FAPCOM (Faculdade Paulus de Tecnologia e Comunicação) allows the school to take InfoComm’s curriculum, translate it to Portuguese and distribute to its students and to bookstores.

“This is a remarkable opportunity, since we will have InfoComm’s contents as the core for a brand new two-year graduation technological program, the first ever to be implemented in Brazil,” says Nelson Baumgratz, CTS-D, co-owner of EAV-Engenharia Audiovisual, an InfoComm University Instructor and a faculty advisor at FAPCOM.

It’s especially important, Baumgratz says, “in light of the Brazilian A/V market’s need for higher-quality workmanship, a need which has been constantly repeated at InfoComm’s Regional Roundtables in Brazil.”

The timing couldn’t be better to help create a new crop of InfoComm-trained technicians in Brazil, which is preparing to host the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games. The systems integration demands for new facilities and updates to existing venues are sure to be extremely high.
