Lab.gruppen D Series Amps Designed with Total Integration in Mind

Published: 2014-10-16

Drawing upon the design and real world user experience of the PLM 20000 touring amplifier, the Ontario, Canada-based audio manufacturer Lab.gruppen, has announced its latest product line, the D series of amplifiers.

The Skinny: According to the company, the D Series offers dealers a choice of three four-channel DSP amplifier products that can be deployed in a variety of sound systems.

The Specs: The D Series of amplifiers are available in a choice of three power configurations—-8,000, 12,000 and 20,000 watts of power—-and the company says these amps provide dealers with open operability to support Lab.gruppen’s total integration philosophy.

Lab.gruppen states the amps are engineered to integrate with a range of digital audio and control protocols, and they incorporate the company’s latest technology: Rational Power Management (RPM). The audio manufacturer says this technology is designed to steer the correct amount of power to each channel to ensure a high level of operational efficiency.

The company adds that at the heart of the RPM technology is the ability of the amps to deliver as much as 5,000 watts of power to any single channel, while leaving power available to the amps’ other channels.

Lab.gruppen further augments the amps’ installation capabilities through the inclusion of its Configuring Amplifiers For the Environment (CAFE) software that provides system monitoring, RPM management, and its Equipment Specification Predictor (ESP) technology that delivers specification recommendations to dealers.

Other support measures offered by Lab.gruppen include the fact that it offers the amp in a choice of its Lake or Tesira (Biamp Systems) versions. Lake versions incorporate Lake processing DSPs with analog, AES and Dante provisions, while the Tesira versions offer Tesira DSP and AVB audio and control capabilities.

Solutions: Lab.gruppen says the amps can be used in a variety of fixed-installation projects.
