MilesTek's new HDMI over RG6 Coax transmission solution sends HD video over a single coax cable distances up to 400 feet.
December 05, 2011 | by CI Staff

With new construction in residential and commercial markets sporadic at best, the biggest opportunity to grow installation revenues in both markets is the retrofit, existing building category.

The Skinny: MilesTek is a diverse manufacturer of connectivity products and the company’s new HDMI over Single RG6 Coax product is designed to send HDMI data over standard Coax cabling.

The Specs: The HDMI over Single RG6 Coax cable enables electronics professionals to utilize a building’s existing coax RG6 cables to transmit HD video and audio over a single cable for distances up to 400 feet. The HDMI 1.3 compliant solution supports resolutions up to 1080p at 24Hz to 60Hz and works with HDMI’s xvYCC functions. In addition, the HDCP compatible unit also works with the protocol’s CEC component. The kit comes with a transmitter, receiver and remote control unit. MilesTek says the transmitter/receiver solution must be used with 75-ohm cables and it has provisions for two input sources.

Solutions: The HDMI over Single RG6 Coax cable system can be used in commercial and residential markets for the transmission of HD video and audio content.
