NSCA has announced that its former president Nancy Emerson passed away on July 4, 2016.

Emerson was on the NSCA board from 1997 until her retirement in 2008 and served in many capacities including each officer role on the executive committee while on the board.

In the announcement, NSCA says Emerson was “a driving force in NSCA joining forces with InfoComm and CEDIA to launch the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) trade show.  Nancy went on to serve as the NSCA board liaison to ISE and spent many hours of volunteer time helping launch that great event in the infancy stage.”

In addition to serving on the NSCA board, Emerson and her husband ran Midwest Telephone Systems in Des Moines for a number of years. The announcement further states that Emerson was only the second female to serve in a leadership role at NSCA.

“She was a great role model for women business owners.  Most importantly she was a kind hearted person and was very generous to all.  She would love to welcome new members at NSCA functions and always made first time attendees feel right at home upon their arrival.”
