Neumann is a world famous manufacturer of professional audio equipment.
The famous u47 and u67 microphones are often associated with the Beatles during their years of recording at EMI Studios (Abbey Road Studios).
The Skinny: In addition to its famous line of microphones, the German company also produces a complete line of studio monitors. During the recently completed NAB Show Neumann debuted its KH 120 D nearfield monitor to augment its selection of monitor products.
The Specs: Neumann says the KH 120 D is the company’s first digital studio monitor, and the product comes equipped with a BNC input for AES/EBU or S/PDIF digital audio formats (24-bit/192kHz) to support a seamless digital workflow process. The audio company also includes digital delay for both its analog and digital inputs to allow users to time align the monitors as effortlessly as possible.
Wolfgang Fraissinet, president of Neumann, points out that the company equipped the monitor with state-of-the-art features to support its use in a variety of applications.
“Neumann’s studio monitors are built to have extremely high tolerances and deliver an ‘honest’ sound,” he says. “With the KH 120 D, a fully digital workflow can now also benefit from these characteristics. The addition of a built-in delay feature makes the KH 120 D suitable for new applications and represents exceptional value at this price point. It provides an answer to the very latest trends in the field of professional audio.”
In addition to its digital inputs and time delay options, the KH 120 D also includes the company’s Mathematically Modeled Waveguide (MMD), flexible acoustical controls, variable input formats (analog and digital), built-in Class A/B amplification, and mounting hardware.
Solutions: Neumann says the KH 120 D can be used for nearfield monitoring and rear surround mixing of music, movies and broadcast content.
