New Bose Loudspeakers Can Support Existing RoomMatch Systems or Stand Alone

Bose is one of the most famous names in the world of sound, but to the surprise of some, the company makes more than just home theater speakers and headphones.

The Skinny: Adding to its line of RoomMatch Utility Loudspeakers (RMU), the Massachusetts company has announced three new speaker products that diversify the RoomMatch series.

The Specs: The new RMU206, RMU108 and RMU105 join the RMU208 small-format sound reinforcement loudspeaker, and Bose says the speakers are designed to augment the performance a RoomMatch full-range sound reinforcement system or the products can be used as stand-alone solutions.

The Framingham, Mass.-based manufacturer points out that the line of products now offer dealers a choice of solutions that range from double 8-inch woofer designs to single 5-inch woofer designs.

All of the speakers incorporate the company’s EMB2 compression driver that includes a 2-inch titanium diaphragm, along with a phase plug that is said to reduce distortion to facilitate the use of a lower crossover frequency to aid dialog intelligibility.

The RMU206 is designed for under balcony installation through its angled baffle enclosure. The product utilizes two 6-inch woofers, and its 120-degree x 60-degree high-frequency waveguide is said to provide dealers with a wide dispersion characteristic.

The RMU108 is designed as a versatile solution that features a single 8-inch woofer and a 90-degree x 60-degree waveguide. The final product addition to the line from Bose is the RMU105, which was developed for background music and zone-fill installations.  The speaker employs a single 5-inch woofer and a 100-degree x 100-degree waveguide angle.

Solutions: Bose says its new RoomMatch speakers are available in a choice of either black or white, and they can be can be used in houses of worship, college auditoriums, performing arts centers, dance clubs, retail and hospitality settings.
