New DigitalMedia Card From Crestron Enables H.264 Over IP

Published: 2014-12-09

Over the course of the past few months, Crestron has announced a number of new products that range from remote controls and amplifiers, to new switches and other media components.

The Skinny: The latest product from the Rockleigh, N.J.-based manufacturer is its new DMC-STR Streaming Input Card.

The Specs: Crestron says the product is available and shipping, and it enables card-based DM switchers to receive H.264 video streams over an IP network.

Crestron explains the card is compatible with devices that include IP cameras, media servers, and its DMC STRO streaming output card that’s located in another DM switcher.

FEATURED REPORT

Crestron says that streaming media content eliminates the problem of distance and provides a means of signal transmission and distribution in situations where dedicated wring is impractical due to cost or infrastructure concerns.

The DMC-STR supports resolutions up to 1080p at 25Mbps, and Crestron adds that dealers can configure the input to receive streams via its “Content LAN” port or they can configure switchers to utilize the switchers’ unit’s LAN port.

Solutions: The DMC-STR Streaming Input Card and DM switchers can be used to solve a variety of signal distribution needs.
