New England Patriots Battle Weather with SunBrite TVs

Published: 2012-01-10

When Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos take on the New England Patriots on Saturday, fans in Gillette Stadium will bear witness to an omnipresent, nature-defying force.

Of course we’re referring to the 100 weather-proof SunBrite TVs the Patriots installed in their Foxboro, Mass., facility this season.

Now, even if fans in Gillette Stadium are standing where they can’t see one of the two giant HD video boards, they can probably spot one of over 1,000 video monitors strategically placed around the open-roof stadium including the new all-weather models.

The Patriots in-house operations team chose Sunbrite TV’s new 46-inch Signature line SB-4660HD models, in many cases replacing old analog CRT TVs.

Designed to withstand rain, snow and solar glare, the SunBrite TVs are installed in concession areas, concourses, outer walkway areas and mounted on upper deck girders. As fans are waiting in line for the bathroom or grabbing refreshments, they can watch game action and in-stadium promotional content from the team’s closed circuit HDTV feeds that run through the stadium via coax, decoded using ATSC tuners, according to SunBrite TV VP of sales and marketing Tom Dixon.

During CES 2012, SunBrite TV officially announces its Signature line of 1080p all-weather LCD TVs, even though the 46-inch model is already available for an MSRP of $2,995.  Prices for 55-inch SB-5560HD and 32-inch SB-3260 are still to be determined and are planned to ship in Spring of 2012.

“We are excited about the Patriots bringing SunBrite TVs to Gillette stadium and we are happy to be a part of this great sports venue,” Dixon says. “Patriot fans enjoy the game literally anywhere in the stadium—and never miss out on the action.”

The Patriots, whose in-house operations team handled the installation of the 100 SunBrite TVs, declined comment for this article.
