New StarTech Adapters Facilitate 4K Multimedia Creation

Published: 2014-10-06

StarTech is a Midwestern manufacturer of connectivity solutions, and its product line includes everything from Thunderbolt cables to KVM accessories.

The Skinny: The Lockbourne, Ohio-based company announced two new USB 3.0 adapters that are designed to facilitate USB 3.0 to next-generation Ultra HD (4K) displays.

The Specs: The new USB 3.0-to-HDMI and USB 3.0-to-DisplayPort 1.2 adapters are said to provide an easy way for professionals to increase their workflow productivity through the use of next-generation formats and technologies.

“4K displays are becoming more readily available in the market, but not everyone has a powerful enough laptop, Ultrabook or desktop video card to drive a 4K monitor,” says John Mardinly, senior product manager, USB video adapters, StarTech. “Our USB 3.0-to-4K adapters let you take advantage of resolutions supported by UltraHD displays for applications that require an added level of graphical clarity and detail such as editing, graphic design and multimedia creation.”

StarTech explains passive adapters allow for the connection between computers to flat-panel displays and projectors even in scenarios in which the source doesn’t output native 4K resolutions.

Solutions: The adapters can be installed into any number of office environments to facilitate 4K connectivity.
