On Controls Automation Software 4.0 Allows for 3rd Party Compatibility

Published: 2014-09-17

The Detroit-based control and automation company On Controls has announced an update to its cloud-based smart home and commercial automation programming software.

The company’s new 4.0 software is said to incorporate several newly added features and increased functionality to better enable dealers to address a variety of needs in both the residential and commercial markets.

On Controls explains that with the 4.0 software, dealers can utilize a choice of preconfigured modules that provide instant compatibility between its product line and a growing number of third-party devices. Some of the company’s latest modules include solutions for the Philips Hue lighting (controls for color and dimming), and two new Lutron modules.

The first Lutron module provides control for Lutron’s Homeworks QS system, and its array of switches, dimmers, keypads, window treatments and thermostats. The other new Lutron module provides control for the new Caseta system, including the Smart Bridge Pro wireless bridge, Caseta dimmers and Pico remote controls.

On Control points out that with its modules, installers can provide their clients with reasonably priced Internet of Things (IoT) functionality for the complete control their electronics systems in a manner that is conducive to installers in the field.

“Many of the new features found in this latest release are a direct result of feedback from our residential and commercial dealer base,” says Ital Ben-Gal, CEO, On Controls. “Our objective is to engage with our sales channel and deliver the functionality they require from our ground breaking cloud-based solution.”

Another benefit of the newly updated software platform includes firmware revisions that support dealers’ ability to design multifaceted system configurations quicker and easier. Highlighting some of the improvements, On Controls says that dealers can now leverage external sensors to trigger events and increased communications between third-party devices to support more detailed and convenient macros.
