Pakedge Releases Gigabit Wireless Access Point

WX-1 access point is first of its kind and considered most comprehensive in AV industry.

Pakedge has released the WX-1 gigabit wireless access point (AP), an 802.11ac access point that features a 3×3 multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radio configuration for up to five times faster connection speed and four times more bandwidth.

The WX-1 “offers a higher channel capacity than N based Aps,” according to Pakedge’s announcement. With channels up to 80Mhz wide the WX-1 is capable of processing up to four times as many signals per channel, it says.

“Uniquely designed to guarantee powerful wireless installations in a variety of high-performance applications, the WX-1 is ideal for integrators keen to diversify their business. The WX-1 was purpose-designed for bigger, more challenging jobs where wireless reliability is a priority, but it is also commercial-ready.”

Here’s more about the Pakedge WX-1:

Plenum-rated for fire safety compliance, the WX-1 can also be used in hospitals, schools, and MDUs. It also supports RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service) servers, which centralize authentication, authorization, and account management for enhanced security.

The WX also supports the more secure WPA Enterprise and WPA2 Enterprise signal encryption for those who use RADIUS servers.

Robust and reliable wireless performance is assured with the WX-1. Designed for bandwidth intensive multimedia traffic, the WX-1 boasts intelligent features, such as TruStream and Pakedge Zones, which are able to recognize and prioritize latency sensitive voice and video traffic for seamless performance.

The WX-1 also maintains high throughputs at long ranges – distances where others drop off quickly. This stable and effective throughput performance is attained through a combination of factors including six internal antennas based on a Pakedge proprietary design, high transmit power radios, as well as SectorMaxx and Fluxx technologies.

The WX-1 also offers versatile mounting options and form factors to simplify spec’ing and installation. The adaptability of the wall/ceiling surface mount and the in-ceiling/in-wall mounting trays conveniently allows integrators to stock only one SKU that can be upgraded as needed.

The WX-1 also includes t-bar brackets for drop-tile ceilings and there is even an outdoor version. Because the WX-1 is PoE+ powered, the placement of the AP is flexible and not contingent on whether or not an AC power outlet is available.

The WX-1 also incorporates a variety of additional security features to ensure safe wireless networking. These include special encryption algorithms and secure encryption.  It also enables the provision for two guest networks (one for the 2.4 GHz band, and one for the 5 GHz band).

The guest network setup and management can be performed through the WX-1’s management menus, as well as through the Pakedge C36 wireless controller which both enable automatic detection and blocking of unauthorized devices. When used with RADIUS servers for commercial application the enterprise WPA/WPA2 features enhance security.

The GUI and feature menus on the WX-1 are simple and intuitive which are indicative of Pakedge’s dedication to ease of use. Like other Pakedge products, the WX-1 is easy to set-up and easy to use. Pakedge Zones make integrating Pakedge devices and optimizing traffic simple with pre-set AV specific configurations.

The WX-1 series is also eligible for Pakedge’s Custom Engineering program that allows resellers and installers to create and lock in their own, customized “tried and true” configurations for plug-and-play installation. The custom engineering program saves dealers time and money by reducing installation errors and speeding up deployments.

Pakedge will be debuting the WX-1 and the rest of its AV specific network innovations at CEDIA in October. They will be raffling off 802.11ac access points and giving away power banks to visitors who stop by their booth to check out their demo stations. Pakedge will be at CEDIA booth #6414.
