Planar Creates Industry’s Smallest Seam LCD Video Wall with 1.6mm Bezel

Published: 2016-06-09

Integrators are pretty familiar with Planar‘s Clarity Matrix video wall system. While the sizes of the displays are getting bigger and bezels getting smaller, Planar takes it to a new level at InfoComm 2016.

At the show this week Planar and its parent company Leyard are highlighting the latest iteration of the video wall line, with the narrowest bezel-to-bezel gap yet as well as features designed to ease installation and reduce total cost.

There are two new models integrators should be aware of.

Clarity Matrix MX

The Clarity Matrix MX55HDX LCD video wall display boasts the title of the industry’s smallest seam LCD video wall display, featuring a tiled bezel width of just 1.6mm. This tiny bezel space helps video wall installations appear more cohesive and seamless in action.

Features of the Clarity Matrix MX55HDX:

  • Improvements to the Planar EasyAxis Mounting System
  • 800 nits of brightness and an off-board architecture to prevent hot spots on the display
  • 10 percent power consumption reduction over previous 55-inch Clarity Matrix models
  • Installed depth of 92 millimeters (3.6 inches), achieving compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirement for protruding objects
  • Built-in video extension of up to 150 meters (500 feet)
  • Convenient front serviceability
  • Ability to drive up to five Clarity Matrix displays with a single power supply module
  • Specialized transportation packaging that surpasses International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) specifications
  • Optional Planar ERO (Extended Ruggedness and Optics) protective glass option

Clarity Matrix 3D

The second of Planar’s new models is the Clarity Matrix LX46HDU-3D, an LCD video wall and large format stereoscopic display designed for 3D visualization applications.

Integrators working in universities, design firms, manufacturers and government could install this video wall, along with passive glasses, for users to analyze 3D models and data. The video wall can also be used as a collaborative work space for standard 2D content. Complete with Full HD native resolution, it has an ultra-thin installed depth of just 3.7 inches and an off-board electronics design for easy maintenance.

“Mechdyne has deployed several CAVE2 large scale virtual reality solutions utilizing the previous generation Clarity Matrix 3D models,” says Mike Hancock, VP at Mechdyne. “With twice the resolution, the new Clarity Matrix LX46HDU-3D redefines the immersive experience and realism of the CAVE2 and elevates its applications in multi-data source collaboration.”

The Clarity Matrix MX55HDX and Clarity LX46HDU-3D models will begin shipping in Summer 2016.
