Radial Engineering‘s Workhorse modular rack and mixer is made for those needing versatility. The product has the capacity to do many things, including the ability to meet a growing studio’s needs.
The Skinny: Radial’s Workhorse can be used in a variety of audio environments to facilitate audio reproduction and recording.
The Specs: The Workhorse is an eight-slot rack with an 8x2 summing mixer. The Canadian company says the unit is fully compatible with its API 500 Series of products. According to Radial, the component can handle up to eight modules and can be set up with any combination of preamps, EQs and compressors within a single rack.
Technicians can access the modules on the unit’s rear panel when following the API format. The modules can be bused to the 8x2 summing mixer for left right signal panning, level control and muting. Jensen Transformers on the Master Section Master main mix outs are also included. The rear panel on each channel incorporates XLR inputs and outputs and 1/4-inch TRS jacks for balanced and unbalanced connectivity. Additionally, the rear panel features ProTools-ready 8-channel D-sub inputs and outputs and a third D-sub that provides access to the built-in summing mixer for analog summing applications.
Solutions: A few of the usage scenarios for the Radial Workhorse include live recording and recording studios.
