Samsung is arguably the most widely used display manufacturer in the residential custom electronics market, and its dealer popularity extends over to the commercial market through its wide selection of display solutions.

Adding to its commercially based Smart Signage series of products, the large electronics manufacturer has announced its OMD Series of LED-lit LCD displays.

The company’s Ridgefield Park, N.J.-based office says the newly announced line provides dealers a choice of display that range in size from 46 inches to 75 inches, and it explains the products are designed to deliver bright and readable text and graphics.

“Samsung continues to develop innovative solutions that enable businesses to make smarter signage choices, whether that’s making the transition from a printed poster to dynamic digital signage in a storefront window for increased visibility or upgrading to an all-in-one solution for easier content management,” says Thomas Evans, director of display product marketing, Samsung, enterprise business division.

“We understand that capturing the attention of consumers today can be challenging and created the OMD Series to offer a simple, smart and visually attractive way for businesses to showcase content, so that no matter the environment their messages will come across clear and bright,” Evans continues.

Engineered to operate in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, the OMD Series is designed to produce up to 2,500 nits, and contrast ratios as high as 5,000:1. Samsung points out the products also incorporate its circular polarizing technology that allows for viewing content while wearing polarized sunglasses, and it offers the displays in a choice of ready-to-mount products for indoor use and panel kits for use outdoor within enclosures.

Looking at some of the specific models within the line, Samsung states the OMD-W Series are designed for well lit interior environments, and the VESA-compliant, OMD-K Series provides dealers the aforementioned panel kit for use in outdoor environments.

In addition, like other Smart Signage Platform products, the displays incorporate built-in media players that eliminate the need for external devices, and built-in Wi-Fi for easy network integration.

Samsung adds the products are rated for 24/7 operation, and they also provide connectivity options such as RS-232 for control, and inputs such as PC (VGA), DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI.
