ISE 2017 Must-See: SDVoE Alliance’s Application Programming Interface

Published: 2017-02-03

At this year’s ISE show, SDVoE Alliance will be showing off SDVoE technology, specifically the SDVoE Application Programming Interface (API).

Justin Kennington, president of the SDVoE Alliance, took the time to talk with CI about all of the Alliance’s offerings, as well as what attendees can expect to see at the SDVoE Alliance booth #12-H55 at ISE 2017.

CI: If we learn about only one product innovation in your ISE 2017 booth, what should it be?

The Software Defined Video Over Ethernet (SDVoE) Alliance has been founded to provide clarity to the pro AV community on the direction we need to take for implementing AV-over-IP solutions.

FEATURED REPORT

We are undergoing a huge transition, and the market is confused by competing approaches and a lack of performance standards.  The Alliance offers a full stack solution that addresses all layers of the network stack, as well as defining clear performance requirements to meet the demands of the pro AV consumer – AV signal management without latency or image quality compromise.

SDVoE technology is the only off-the-shelf solution delivering this performance on highly scalable standard Ethernet infrastructure that is available to any manufacturer. The SDVoE Application Programming Interface (API) makes it easy to control all this power.

CI: How is the European residential and commercial custom installation market different from in the U.S.?

We see more similarities than differences.  The desire to move to standard AV-over-IP infrastructure without compromising image quality and performance is universal.

CI: Ok….What if we have time to see one more thing?

Be sure to stop by and check out our codec shootout demonstration, where we pit SDVoE technology against other AV-over-IP codecs, like MJPEG and H.264.  Experiencing the difference live really drives home the point that latency is not tolerable in an interactive environment, and these other codecs’ high compression ratios can be damaging to image quality.

CI: What’s one last impression you’d like us to take away from your ISE 2017 booth?

SDVoE is the hardware and software platform to develop all pro AV applications now and in the future.  The SDVoE Alliance is offering many education and training opportunities for system integrators, designers, consultants, installers and manufacturers – at ISE 2017 and beyond.
