Aurora Multimedia’s Power over Ethernet IPX Transceivers Leverage SDVoE

Calling it the first Power over Ethernet enabled products built on AptoVision BlueRiver chipsets, Aurora Multimedia’s IPX Series transceiver use 10G PoE capability to increase AV system deployment flexibility.

During ISE 2017 Justin Kennington, strategic and technical marketing director at AptoVision and president of SDVoE Alliance, discussed the alliances' out-of-the-gate progress.

One of the SDVoE (Software Defined Video over Ethernet) Alliance’s unique selling propositions right out of the gate when it launched prior to Integrated Systems Europe 2017 was that, unlike other transport standards, there would be no waiting for SDVoE-compliant products. That was before it unveiled its first power over Ethernet product.

“We’ve done it the opposite way,” said Justin Kennington, strategic and technical marketing director at AptoVision and president of SDVoE Alliance, when CI broke news of SDVoE in November 2016.

He added that there were already 35 existing products that meet SDVoE performance standards. “So as soon as we hit with the alliance we’ll be able to name manufacturers that already have [SDVoE-compliant] products on the market.”

SDVoE did name its founding members and then some.

Then at ISE 2017 seven SDVoE Alliance member companies showed applications and utilities to deliver the benefits of SDVoE technology’s AV-over-IP transport and AV processing capabilities to system integrators and end users.

Now founding member AptoVision is announcing the first product based on its BlueRiver NT AV-over-IP chipsets that includes 10G Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability courtesy of Aurora Multimedia, another SDVoE Alliance member. Aurora will demonstrate the IPX Series, in conjunction with Huawei’s new 24-and 48-port 10G PoE switches, at InfoComm China 2017 (April 12-14, China National Convention Center).

From AptoVision and Aurora Multimedia’s Press Release:

“With PoE, the constraint of having to locate AV endpoints near AC power outlets is eliminated,” said Paul Harris, CEO of Aurora. “This unique capability, coupled with the zero-latency transmission of pristine 4K video enabled by the AptoVision BlueRiver technology, lets integrators easily satisfy even the most demanding pro AV application requirements.”

“Incorporating 10G PoE into the IPX Series of transceivers is just the latest innovation from Aurora Multimedia,” said Charles Dobson, VP global sales at AptoVision. “They have a long history of AV industry ‘firsts’ and have been delivering zero-latency 4K streaming solutions based on our BlueRiver chipsets for quite some time.”
