The owners of Scores sports bar in downtown Boston had some big shoes to fill when they purchased what was formerly The Fours Restaurant & Sports Bar.

Since 1976, the establishment has been the place for diehard Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fans to gather on game days.

The 6,300-square-foot, bi-level stomping grounds still caters to these core customers, as well as the next generation of patrons, thanks to the addition of several smart systems from Rexx Home Systems and Snap One during a massive cosmetic and technological renovation.

Sports always will be a huge part of our identity and as diehard fans, we would never want to change that,” says Scores general manager Tyler Smith. “We want to be top-of-mind to everyone from our fellow Boston sports fanatics to groups looking for something fun to do on a Tuesday night.”

Perhaps the most noticeable and appreciated update are the 32 digital displays occupying nearly every square inch of wall space. Carefully integrated into the building’s original exposed brick walls and millwork, and without detracting too much from priceless collections of sports memorabilia, the commercial-grade displays are arguably the biggest draw of the new business.

“There isn’t a bad seat in the house,” says Jason Record, owner of Rexx Home Systems, the tech integration firm hired for the transformation. “No matter where you sit, you can see multiple games.”

Screen sizes from 55 to 98 inches and the tilt mechanisms of the Strong mounts from Snap One enhance that view. Rexx Home Systems made sure patrons would never struggle to hear the gameday commentary, either, with 50 commercial-grade speakers and subwoofers installed inconspicuously within the ceiling.

More About the Scores Technology Overhaul

Rexx Home Systems charged Snap One’s Control4 automation platform, along with its Binary MoIP (Media over IP) system, Triad electronics and Control4 entertainment and automation controllers, among other technologies, with AV distribution, management and control.

This system distributes multiple streams of high-resolution audio and video from a wide array of sources to whichever TVs and speakers the on-duty Scores manager chooses. The system can be controlled via a Control4 smartphone app or a 10-inch Control4 wall-mounted touchscreen.

Rexx Home Systems layered in Control4’s MultiDisplay Manager software to streamline the navigation process. Instead of scrolling through options, users refer to and select from a virtual layout of Scores’ AV sources, TVs and speakers.

“It’s so much more efficient than walking throughout the bar with an armload of remote controls,” says Smith. “We can get everything up and running just the way we like it in seconds.”

This lets Scores fine-tune the AV distribution to the needs of its diverse customer base.

“If someone is renting a section of Scores for a private party, for example, music and a slideshow on the 98-inch screen can play there while the rest of the facility stays engrossed in the sports action,” says Record.

Automated lighting scenes enhance the ambiance. Again, the Control4 user interface makes adjusting countless fixtures across the enormous space quick and easy. Integrating Scores lighting into the Control4 platform proved relatively straightforward, as well, accomplished by swapping the building’s existing wall switches for smart dimmers and switches from Control4 and some programming work.

From the same app or touchscreen that directs the flow of AV signals, as well as custom Control4 keypads, Scores managers can dim and brighten lights perfectly for any occasion, time of day, or customer preference. The same app or touchscreen provides single button control for lighting scenes, or whole scene execution for AV and lights.

Rexx Home Systems delivered WiFi via the installation of multiple Araknis access points and connecting them to a Pakedge networking system from Snap One. The networking system also enabled the creation of several independent VLANs, one of which was assigned exclusively to the new batch of 25 Clare Controls surveillance cameras and ClareVision network video recorder (NVR).

“Assigning cameras their own slice of the network helps maintain image clarity and doesn’t impact the clarity or reliability of the AV systems, control and lighting systems,” says Record.

Scores HVAC air conditioning and heating system is also integrated within the system. With six thermostats, the entire HVAC system can be controlled via Control4 remote or app, meaning year-round convenient comfort.

As the legacy of The Fours Restaurant & Sports Bar lives on, the employees and patrons of Scores are experiencing a whole new level of comradery and entertainment enabled by carefully curated, designed, and installed tech solutions from Rexx Home Systems and the Snap One vast family of products.

“Regulars and newcomers alike love what we’ve done with the space,” says Smith. “It’s been an overnight success and a real boon to business.”

The post L-Acoustics Elevates Audio for Rockin’1000 appeared first on Commercial Integrator.

]]>
In 2015 — in an extraordinary display of unity — 1,000 musicians and hundreds of volunteers including producers, videographers, sound engineers and more, converged in Cesena, Italy to perform Foo Fighters’ “Learn to Fly” live in order to release a video. This extraordinary video was a viral musical plea to Dave Grohl, asking him to play in their city,* and marked the inception of Rockin’1000, now acclaimed as the world’s largest rock band, per a statement.

Since its debut, Rockin’1000 has evolved into a global phenomenon, the statement notes. It has orchestrated annual events across Europe and Brazil. With a global family of over 40,000 members, these shows are a testament to the power of music, says L-Acoustics. It brings together musicians from diverse backgrounds to create visually and acoustically stunning performances in iconic locations like Paris, Frankfurt, Madrid and São Paulo. Their collective effort celebrates the joy of music and showcases the unparalleled spectacle of 1,000 musicians performing in unison, captivating audiences worldwide.

Rockin’1000 selected L-Acoustics for its global reach and the versatility of K Series, both crucial for their traveling shows. According to L-Acoustics, the debut use of this system occurred at the Stade de France in 2019, installed by the France-based L-Acoustics Certified Provider Dushow.

L-Acoustics speakers were stacked around the outer edge of the pitch in 10 sets of four or six K2 over two K1-SB subs, with 10 additional stacks of four KS28 subwoofers. Photo courtesy: OLEX Communications/L-Acoustics.

Luca Stefani, sound engineer at Rockin’1000, comments, “There are many reasons why we request L-Acoustics systems for our events such as its global availability (since we need more than 100 of the same model for these productions), the perfect balance between sound quality and high SPL, the precision of the acoustic prediction software, its good stack capability and scalability, the ease of setup, deployment and management.”

In summer of 2023, Rockin’1000 not only performed in Rome and Madrid but also emotionally returned to the origin of their journey, the Dino Manuzzi Stadium in Cesena, for a special fundraising concert aiding the flood-stricken areas of Romagna. With a thousand musicians participating, the event’s complexity necessitated a sound system that could manage the immense volume and intricate soundscapes, says L-Acoustics. They aimed for a solution offering flexible sound perception and optimal acoustics for performers and attendees alike.

At Rockin’1000 L-Acoustics K Series creates a soundscape where the audience hears and feels the music. It was a true symphony of clarity, power and intricate detail. Photo courtesy: OLEX Communications/L-Acoustics.

According to a statement, the brief was straightforward yet ambitious: to create a massive sound that not only resonates in terms of volume but also reaches every member of the crowd and “to experience the enormity of the Rockin’1000 band performing live in front of you,” comments Stefani.

To cover the entire 360-degree arena audience seating area in Cesena, Stefani designed a system composed of a distributed L/R configuration using 108 K2 loudspeakers, reinforced by 40 K1-SB and 40 KS28 subwoofers. These were ground-stacked all around the outer edge of the pitch in 10 left/right sets consisting of four or six K2 over two K1-SB subs, with 10 additional stacks of four KS28 subwoofers for low end reinforcement, capable of delivering ample headroom and consistent crystal-clear sound, even amidst dense harmonic content.

Fabio Zaffagnini, Rockin’1000 CEO asserts, “Our partnership with L-Acoustics has transformed the Rockin’1000 experience, elevating it to unparalleled heights. Thanks to the K Series, our concerts are now immersive soundscapes where you don’t just hear the music — you feel it. This isn’t just sound; it’s a symphony of clarity, power, and detail, making every performance unforgettable.”

Zaffagnini adds, “Our fans can’t get enough of the crisp, expansive sound that cuts through even the most complex arrangements. It’s a game-changer, proof of our dedication to crafting memorable musical moments. Once you’ve experienced a Rockin’1000 concert powered by the K Series, there’s no going back.”

*Dave Grohl said “Si” and the Foo Fighters kicked off their European tour in Cesena on Nov. 15, 2015.

As we step into 2024, the consumer electronics (CE) industry continues its steady march back to pre-pandemic levels and in some cases has already exceeded expectations, offering a promising outlook for manufacturers and consumers alike.

Return to Normalcy and AI’s Ascendancy: The recovery journey for the CE industry persists. One standout trend observed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the prominent role of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Not only is AI driving innovation in consumer products, but it’s also revolutionizing business applications, including business applications serving the custom electronic design and installation market.

AI’s Influence in TV Technology: In the realm of television technology, AI’s integration is transformative. We’ve witnessed AI’s deployment in various aspects, from enhancing image and audio quality to optimizing TV operations. Noteworthy implementations include AI image upscaling, which leverages frame-by-frame analysis for heightened clarity, and AI sound processing, enabling immersive audio experiences with advanced soundstage creation.

Seamless Integration of AI: AI-based voice models are revolutionizing voice control functionalities, offering users an intuitive interface. Streaming platforms globally are harnessing AI for personalized content recommendations, real-time subtitles, and translated captions that enhance user experiences.

Emergence of Transparent TVs: Innovations in TV design are also capturing attention, with transparent TVs emerging as a visually stunning option. While not a primary display option yet for most consumers, these transparent TVs serve as attention-grabbing showpieces, particularly appealing to high-end customers seeking to elevate their living spaces.

Revival of Physical Media: In a surprising turn of events, physical media is experiencing a resurgence, including 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. Discerning consumers that are passionate about home theater experiences are embracing the superior quality and additional options offered by physical media, as shown by the swift sell-out of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer on 4K Blu-ray.

The Role of eARC in Audio Excellence: On the audio front, HDMI Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) continues to expand into more products, emerging as the preferred choice for home theater and audio enthusiasts as well as industry professionals. With its ability to deliver uncompressed audio formats and support advanced audio technologies like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, eARC ensures unparalleled audio fidelity and system flexibility.

Combatting Counterfeiting in HDMI Products: It’s imperative for industry professionals to remain vigilant against counterfeit HDMI products. Turning AI Mystery Into AI Strategy https://www.commercialintegrator.com/blogs/turning-ai-mystery-into-av-strategy/ https://www.commercialintegrator.com/blogs/turning-ai-mystery-into-av-strategy/#respond Wed, 20 Mar 2024 17:01:28 +0000 https://www.commercialintegrator.com/?p=129509 Three ways AV integrators can transform the AI hype into impactful business solutions.

The post Turning AI Mystery Into AI Strategy appeared first on Commercial Integrator.

]]>
AI (artificial intelligence) is being used in AV and digital signage devices such as screens and cameras, in content management software platforms, and in control and monitoring applications. It’s being tapped to modify the specs or performance of those devices or software platforms, either for workflow efficiencies or to have content respond to real-time data input and/or changing contextual cues.

We’ve all read and heard speculation about where AI is heading. As a senior sales engineer at a major AV equipment provider, my goal is not to come up with yet more wish lists for AI. Daily, I try to answer this question, for AV integrators out in the field: how do you make AI part of your initial conversations with your customers and potential customers, educate them about choices, and give them a clearer pathway to better AV ecosystems?

My experience in the field has given me insights you won’t hear during a trade show product pitch. Here are three lessons I’d like to share:

#1 What’s the Business Proposition?

If customers get bombarded at the outset with hyped-up promises – about any technology – they’re likely to be some combination of confused, skeptical, or pretty sure that you’re one in a long line of salespeople jumping on another tech trend bandwagon to try to get the project.

Don’t start with what cool things new AI technology can do. Start with the customer’s needs. Are they mainly interested in collaboration solutions? Then you know they’re facing new mandates to provide better experiences for their people, while meeting cost savings, efficiency, and sustainability goals.

But you can’t address all those needs at once. Drill down to practical considerations. Ask them – as they plan, design, and manage collaboration spaces – if they really know what is happening in their rooms today? Are those rooms doing all they need to do? AI-enabled solutions are not about the future, they’re about the ability to elevate any space, any room to a higher level of AV performance. Have you heard the expression “read the room?”

Don’t be intimidated by AI, and more importantly don’t let your customer be intimidated and confused. Learn to read both the customer, and literally, the room(s) in question.

#2 You’ve Learned to Talk the AI Talk. But Can You Walk the walk?

Sony on demystifying AI

Show How AI Works. Do real life demos of AI-enabled AV. And show the process as well as the product. Because too much of what people think they know about AI in AV comes from press releases, product spec sheets, white papers, panel discussions at trade shows and online. Part of my job as a sales engineer is helping people get a closer look at how solutions really work. And there’s no better way to get into the weeds with the users than by doing hands-on demos. It’s important not just for the obvious benefit of demoing a product or software solution in real time in the field, but also to build trust between the tech provider, the AV integrator and the end user. Can you set up a videoconference between the AV equipment provider (with a sales engineer not just a salesperson), the AV integrator, and the end user? Does the AV equipment provider have an open door policy with the other people in the chain? Can you make a product available from a loan pool, as it’s being considered for an installation, to add confidence about the AI-enabled capabilities?

#3 The Best AI is About Related Technology Pieces Working Together – That’s Why the Best AV Systems Reflect Solution Partnerships

One of the brightest promises that AI offers our industry is better synergies between solutions from different providers. And it can, hopefully, get past the problem we’ve had for years: too many companies in the past trying to push either fully proprietary or mainly closed ecosystem solutions for AV.

AV-over-IP (AVoIP) has done a lot to point us all in a different direction, but we’re still not in a vendor-neutral or plug-and-play AV universe. As the industry moves to more software-based AV solutions and especially AI-enabled products, it’s more important than ever to make sure all the elements of your proposed AV ecosystem work happily together. AI is going to enable different products in AV and beyond to work together. That being said, it’s more important than ever to choose AV partners wisely.

Start with this question: does the big AV equipment partner that you’re choosing, as an integrator or high level end user, themselves have great “partners” for the careful building of AV systems including the ones with AI capabilities? (Want a good example? Look at Sony’s Alliance Partners program – who’s in it and why.)

Prioritize AI Solutions with Proven Business Benefits & Compatibility

I see in the field that as AI and other new generation technologies come to the forefront the best AV integrators and the most careful end users are going beyond just sourcing disparate products.

Increasingly, they’re looking at AI-enabled solutions. But they want to know how the solution offers a better business proposition not just a new technology approach. They are also looking for real world demos of the solutions before committing. And they need to know that the solutions they’re considering – including AI solutions – are compatible with best-in-class technology partners across a wide range of pro AV applications.

The post Updated: Listen Technologies, Ampetronic Announce Auracast-Based Assistive-Listening Solution appeared first on Commercial Integrator.

]]>
Editor’s Note: We originally published this story on Auracast on Dec. 20, 2023. We updated it on March 20, 2024, to include an exclusive Q&A with Listen Technologies president and CEO Maile Keone. To check out the Q&A, click here.

Listen Technologies Corporation, provider of advanced wireless listening solutions, and Ampetronic, provider of audio-induction loop systems, announced the development of the first complete installed assistive listening system utilizing Auracast broadcast audio technology. Per a statement, this will be the first new product from the two companies since announcing their partnership and creation of a single source for innovative and accessible audio solutions.

According to Listen Technologies, Auracast is a new standard for Bluetooth Low Energy audio. It can thus broadcast audio to unlimited numbers of receivers and hearing aids simultaneously without always needing to pair to a transmitter first. This enables use of Bluetooth as a wide-area assistive-listening technology. According to a statement, Auracast will also be available in many new hearing aids, earbuds and headphones in the future.

Additionally, Ampetronic and Listen Technologies are Auracast collaboration partners in the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). Here, they contribute to standards development and interoperability testing. Ampetronic and Listen Technologies have also collaborated with leading hearing aid manufacturers, microphone manufacturers, and audio infrastructure companies. Together, they aim to deliver a robust and reliable technology platform for installation in public environments.

The new solution includes networked installation transmitters for multi-channel broadcast for any size space, says Listen Technologies. It also comes with the option for open or secure transmission. The solution will include dedicated receivers and charging bases. Most venues will use the dedicated receivers so end users without Auracast certified devices can access the audio and fulfill local accessibility requirements. A complete line of accessories will also be available, says the company. This includes headphones, neck loops, and network management and configuration software.

Significance of Audio Accessibility

The World Health Organization projects 2.5 billion people are expected to have some degree of hearing loss by 2050, says Listen Technologies. Situational hearing loss or the inability to hear clearly in a space can impact anyone. Auracast thus helps overcome the challenges of traditional assistive-listening systems. Furthermore, it increases access to clear audio for anyone with Auracast enabled earbuds or hearing aids.

Per a statement, Listen Technologies and Ampetronic have more than 60 years of combined experience helping people hear better with innovative technologies and solutions. They are also part of Allvida, a rapidly growing group of companies offering products and solutions for accessibility. They recently partnered to expand their respective portfolios of assistive listening solutions with complementary technologies and systems to market.

“Our project with Listen Technologies is a major step in furthering inclusion and hearing accessibility,” says Julian Pieters, managing director, Ampetronic. “At Ampetronic, we have always provided audio direct to hearing aids, wherever possible, to the advantage of hard-of-hearing end users as well as venues. Since 2013, we have worked alongside the hearing-aid industry and the Bluetooth standards organization to create a roadmap for new technology. It is very exciting to take the first steps into the market. While it will take time to see Auracast receivers widely available; this complete system with dedicated receivers means venues can adopt the technology now.”

Delivering a Better Listening Experience

The new platform will transform hearing assistance in public spaces, says the company. Increasingly, Auracast will be available in many hearing aids, smartphones, earbuds and headphones. As a result, these devices will have the eligibility to receive an Auracast broadcast stream. End users will choose how they want to listen to audio for a personalized experience. Here, they can select announcement channels or language channels, like they would make a classic Bluetooth connection. That means the assistive listening system will be available to anyone with their own device, providing much broader inclusion. In the future, an end user with an Auracast certified device will be able to select an audio stream without needing a special app or borrowing a receiving device, the company notes.

Listen Technologies’ and Ampetronic state that their new platform will allow venues to adopt the technology rather than wait for the devices to become widely available. The new platform will be optimized for reliability and performance and designed to be installed in any environment. This ranges from classrooms to stadiums, airport terminals to attractions. Transmitters can be managed remotely over a network, making it simple to provide whole-venue audio solutions, says Listen Technologies.

“I am excited to announce our latest innovation in partnership with Ampetronic, a groundbreaking assistive listening system powered by Auracast broadcast audio technology,” says Tracy Bathurst, CTO, Listen Technologies. “This cutting-edge system represents a significant leap in audio accessibility, allowing seamless transmission of clear audio to multiple receivers and hearing aids simultaneously. With this new solution we’re not just enhancing sound quality; we’re transforming the listening experience.”

Auracast Q&A with Maile Keone

CI: When you say that Listen Technologies and Ampetronic are developing the first complete installed assistive listening system that utilizes Auracast broadcast audio technology, what do you mean by “complete”? What components or elements does the solution include?

Keone: By “complete,” it is a full solution, including a transmitter, receivers and docking station.

The new solution includes networked installed transmitters for multi-channel broadcast for any size space, with the option for open or secure transmission. The solution includes dedicated receivers and docking stations. Most venues will use the dedicated receivers so end users without Auracast certified devices can access the audio and fulfill local accessibility requirements. Accessories for the solution includes headphones, neck loops, and network management and configuration software.

CI: Describe some of the challenges with respect to how hearing assistance is delivered in public spaces today. Why is a transformation like this so important and impactful?

Keone: All venues are unique, assistive listening technologies and systems should meet the specific needs of a venue and its guests/end users and address the structural challenges of that space. We offer different assistive listening technologies and systems to provide customized solutions for customers that meet their unique requirements.

As hearing aids, smartphones, earbuds, and headphones are increasingly designed with Auracast, guests with Auracast certified devices will receive broadcasts from multi-channel transmitters, without borrowing a receiving device. As Auracast gains wider adoption, it will enable much broader inclusion, and more people will benefit from assistive listening systems.

We estimate five to 10 years for a variety of Auracast compatible consumer devices to penetrate the market. Listen Technologies’ and Ampetronic’s new platform, AURI, includes dedicated receivers so venues can adopt Auracast broadcast audio now and offer their guests dedicated receivers to access the venue audio if they do not have an Auracast™ certified device.

The new platform will be optimized for reliability and performance and designed to be installed in a variety of large and small environments.

CI: What initially inspired this Listen Technologies and Ampetronic partnership? What strategic alignment or core value synergies did you see that made you want to join forces to create solutions like this?

Keone: Listen Technologies and Ampetronic are part of Allvida, a rapidly growing group of companies offering products and solutions for accessibility. Systematic Growth formed Allvida in 2020 to build a company of leading brands in the accessibility space.

Listen Technologies and Ampetronic recently partnered to expand their respective portfolios of assistive listening solutions with complementary technologies and systems, and to bring new products to market.

The two companies have more than 60 years of combined experience and both are committed to furthering inclusion and hearing accessibility. They also are Auracast collaboration partners in the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), contributing to standards development and interoperability testing. Listen Technologies and Ampetronic have collaborated with hearing aid manufacturers, microphone manufacturers, and audio infrastructure companies to deliver a robust and reliable technology platform for installation in public environments.

hetpaleis, a prominent performing arts center nestled in the heart of Antwerp, Belgium, prides itself on providing diverse and high-quality arts experiences for all ages with a focus on young audiences. Stimulating children in their experiences as spectators, participants and artists, hetpaleis makes high-quality productions accessible to a large, urban and diverse audience. With a focus on community building, the venue supports a variety of artists in their development, providing a national and international reach.

To enhance its offering to all, hetpaleis upgraded its audio infrastructure with L-ISA immersive audio by L-Acoustics, marking the first L-ISA installation in Flanders. When considering upgrading the theatre’s sound, hetpaleis reached out to Brussels-based L-Acoustics Certified Partner XLR, building on their successful collaborations on previous projects.

Bob Hermans, sound designer/engineer at hepaleis adds, “We immediately recognized the need to explore immersive, object-based mixing for our future sound system. L-Acoustics emerged as the optimal solution, meeting our specific criteria for immersive audio while remaining within budget.”

The new system needed to be at least 180-degree immersive, object-based, and ideally expandable to 360 degrees in the future. It also had to be fully compatible with both LR and LCR mixing to meet existing requirements and perfectly suited to the venue’s aural and acoustic needs.

XLR accompanied the theatre’s audio team to L-Acoustics headquarters in Marcoussis where they decided to implement L-ISA technology after a firsthand demo of the immersive capabilities of L-ISA.

The biggest challenge was the deployment of the L-ISA configuration because of the limited clearance due to acoustic panels and sharing the tight space with the lighting department. To utilize the limited height in the most efficient way possible, holes were drilled in the acoustic panels to allow steel wires to connect to each array individually; instead of rigging them all to one lateral truss, which would have taken up valuable space. This allowed for five hangs of three A10, without disrupting sightlines from the top rows of the balcony. At the same time, it also maintained impressive SPL, throw and vertical coverage.

The front of the stage is curved outwards. This means that the coverage of the scene system is challenged at the outer seats of the first rows. With nine 5XT spatial front-fills, the immersive element of the mix is perfectly represented for those audience members that don’t receive full coverage from the scene system. One X8 per side on the proscenium helps to keep coverage 100% when a performance does not allow for front-fills, says L-Acoustics.

A very impressive low end is delivered by a horizontal array of four KS21i flown behind the sound system. This then provides perfect coverage straight up to the balcony. According to L-Acoustics, cardioid mode limits rear rejection, keeping the performers on stage comfortable.

The entire system is fed by two LA7.16i amplified controllers which receive signal input via redundant Milan-AVB from the L-ISA Processor II. The combination of A10 clusters and KS21 subs, with the LA7.16i amps providing each cabinet with its own amplifier channel offered a perfect solution for their budget.

Hermans adds, “The ability to place objects, and for everyone in the room to actually experience that placement is just phenomenal. To me, the difference with conventional dual mono LR and LCR systems is very significant. We recently experimented with a Zactrack system that tracks actors’ positions on stage, and the L-ISA Processor automatically translates these positions to the system’s respective speakers, resulting in a very realistic listening experience. We hope to do this more often in the future.”

“The feedback from the theatre’s team has been overwhelmingly positive. They are extremely satisfied with the power and distribution of the audio, and they are pleased with the non-intrusive installation that delivers such an immersive sonic experience,” comments Nico Devroe, area sales manager at XLR.

Creating an L-ISA immersive audio experience at hetpaleis represents a significant advancement in audio technology, says L-Acoustics. With this installation, it thus promises an unparalleled auditory journey for audiences and sets a new standard for immersive sound in performing arts venues, says the provider.

Embrace the Experience https://www.commercialintegrator.com/blogs/embrace-the-e4-experience-spring-24/ https://www.commercialintegrator.com/blogs/embrace-the-e4-experience-spring-24/#respond Thu, 14 Mar 2024 18:31:10 +0000 https://www.commercialintegrator.com/?p=129338 The 2024 season of E4 Experience events has officially kicked off, with lots of additions to make this year’s program especially exciting.

The E4 Experience, powered by Exertis Almo, is back in full effect for 2024 this spring. The kickoff took place earlier this month in Washington, D.C. Each year, these regional #E4Experience events get better and better, bringing tremendous value right to your backyard. In D.C., there were three immersive demos focused on AI, XR headsets and drones, alongside 40-plus exhibitors previewing the newest AV products and services. Plus, there was a new lineup of 10 business and technical sessions, all of them CTS-certified by AVIXA.

The E4 Experience is already well established in our industry and, notably, is free. What’s more, last year, the Exertis Almo E4 Experience received a Commercial Integrator BEST Award and a Quest for Quality award. No wonder integrators, consultants and end users are checking out this one-day traveling education, training and product showcase.

The Power of the Experience

I’ve been evangelizing about the power of the E4 Experience since 2016. It was one of the first AV events I ever went to. The value of learning, paired with networking opportunities, made a real difference for me; it has opened doors for many others and for me. “The beauty of the E4 Experience is that it comes directly to local-area integrators, so they don’t have to travel and take extended time away from their projects,” Melody Craigmyle, vice president of marketing and communications at Exertis Almo, says. “Instead, they can bring clients to a beautiful showroom filled with new, interactive technology and engage with sales engineers to ask questions and take the next step.” She continues, “Integrators tell us that the E4 Experience has [directly resulted in] new business relationships and new ideas for growth and profitability. They leave charged up and ready to jump back in with a fresh perspective.”

The E4 Experience also comes with a major focus on education. The content track takes place throughout the day and brings yet more value to the event. “If attendees are looking to earn AVIXA CTS renewal units to maintain their status — or if they just want to learn about the latest industry trends and technology — they can partake in a full day of sessions that become more technical from morning to afternoon,” Craigmyle states. “Immersive demos, including a Microsoft Teams Room Experience Center, XR solutions with the newest PICO headsets and even a live drone simulation, are also available, along with a few additional surprises.” Each session at the event is worth 1 RU for CTS holders.

A Major Highlight

One of the major highlights for me at the show has always been Gary Kayye’s keynote. This year, he is setting the stage with “Nine Cool New Products and Four Cool New Technologies that Will Change AV Forever.” Industry expert Tom Kehr will host his training on modern meeting design, which continues to be a hit with E4 Experience attendees. I’m also excited about an addition to the training lineup: “Hybrid Harmony: A Comprehensive Guide to Audio and Video Tools for All Work Scenarios,” led by Sharath Abraham. This is especially vital since the hybrid debate has shown no signs of slowing down.

On top of all the great training, the 2024 iteration of the E4 Experience also includes new live demos. There will be a Microsoft Teams Room Experience Center available for the first time at E4 Experience events. Attendees can participate in a live, AI-enabled experience that showcases how technology is revolutionizing the way professionals work, communicate and collaborate. There is an XR component, as well. Attendees will have the opportunity to try out XR headsets from Exertis Almo’s newest partner, PICO Business, to inspire new use cases.

The healthcare demo gives the experience of meditation and stretching to enhance well-being and relaxation in a virtual environment. The corporate demo highlights how employees can engage in immersive simulations that enhance communication, leadership and teamwork for a dynamic experience.

It’s Drone Time!

Last, but not least, are the drone solutions! These have been one of my favorites from the last few stops of the E4 Experience. But, this time, the team is doing live demos that take place in an outdoor location in Phoenix to showcase the command-and-control features of the drone. This demo will be shown on an Absen videowall from the E4 Experience show floor.

This is one jam-packed event that you don’t want to miss. If you aren’t able to attend the E4 Experience event in Chicago next month, just gear up to be in attendance this fall. On September 10, the show is coming to Boston. And then, on October 8, we’ll be closing out the season in Anaheim, Calif. To register for any of the 2024 E4 Experiences, go to E4Experience.com.

I want to see you all there, as we continue the journey of perfecting our craft.
