Synnex Keeps It Simple at InfoComm 2017

The Promethean ActivPanel interactive whiteboard will get a lot of the attention in Synnex's InfoComm 2017 booth.

Synnex is keeping things simple with its InfoComm 2017 (booth #1428), creating “more of a hospitality suite” in its “pretty sizable booth” than loading it with products from its myriad partners, says VP of product management Sandi Stambaugh.

“We try not to go too product-heavy because our partners display their own products in their own booths,” she says. “We look at it as more of a hospitality suite where customers can schedule meetings with end users.”

But let’s not jump to conclusions and compare the company‘s booth setup with the software giant who made an inauspicious debut at InfoComm 2014. There’s still plenty to see in Synnex’s booth, and visitors to the booth can see for themselves how the various products work together.

That includes Axon Body 2 cameras, which will be showing on a variety of Samsung products, including a tablet and mobile phone. Of course, the body cameras are used primarily by police and security forces when on patrols.

Synnex’s booth will also feature Promethean Activpanel interactive whiteboards, which are ideal in K-12 and higher education settings for collaborative teaching environments. Another highlight will be the LifeSize Icon videoconferencing system, where booth visitors can talk to Synnex employees in their Greenville, S.C., and Fremont, Calif., offices to show how the system works.

Another highlight of the booth will be Synnex staffers having conversations with visitors about digital signage as a service, wireless as a service and firewall as a service. Synnex can also do a wireless assessment and determine end users’ penetration rates to determine what protections they need.

Stambaugh says Synnex is now well-positioned to expand its operations and offerings worldwide, thanks to its recent acquisition of Westcon, which work largely across Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

“We’re well-positioned to help customers face AV over IP,” she says. “We’re constantly working with our partners to figure out how to stay ahead of trends.”
