Eliminate Moiré Interference with LED Panels During Broadcast Applications

The newsroom is a complex, high-stakes environment, configured to deliver constantly changing content in an aggressively branded setting. The investment required to garner market share is immense. The partnership of creative director and engineering staff must furnish a compelling look with eye appeal, concise delivery framing, charm, and the clarity necessary to allow talent to hold the viewer. Seamless LED displays have contributed theme flexibility, brightness, contrast, and configurability — but they need lots of help with resolution and the ability to re-photograph the display without artifacts.

Finer pitches help, but that new technology is much more costly. Cut to the chase: there is now a seamless, scalable product which will augment the wall you’ve already bought, or allow you to purchase, a coarser pitch wall at a much lower cost; and you’ll have the freedom to re-photograph it with depth flexibility and no distracting moiré interference. This product is Stewart Filmscreen’s FIDELEDY Vision.

The FIDELEDY Vision Objective

This re-photograph shows broad mode irregular moiré, brought on by node/anode pixel interference, resulting from an unfortunate choice in focal distance.

FIDELEDY Vision is a breakthrough diffusion product, carefully formulated to blend away the pixelation of LED arrays. The product is tinted with a process-specific neutral density to preserve the hard-won contrast of the array, maintaining perfectly saturated and calibrated color space in a huge variety of show lighting conditions.

This augments the performance of LED walls, reduces glare, smoothes out the screen door effect, allows a believable image quality at much closer viewing distances, and gives the creative director the ability to zoom in or out on the array without distracting beat and pattern interference. This technical surface augments LED arrays as coarse as 10mm, is magnificently helpful in the 2-3mm range, and is even helpful with the finer pitches rolling out now.

Stewart Filmscreen Integrates the Solution: Surface + Framing

Stewart Filmscreen is a long-standing US-based manufacturer with deep roots in best of class, post-production and technically sophisticated specialty displays. Stewart Filmscreen analyzes existing or proposed LED arrays and adapts one of our framing solutions to move the display into increased function and viewer appeal. Stewart is certified to the ISO 9001:2015 standard for quality management systems and certified to GreenGuard for our fabrics and mounting systems.

Size Limitations

FIDELEDY Vision is available in continuous cast sheets up to 40 feet (12 meters) high, by 90 feet (27 meters) in width, so nominally unlimited seamless uniformity for any LED application.

How Well Does it Work?

The images shown below are actual photographs of FIDELEDY Vision with a split screen display and a 2.6mm pitch LED.

The Stewart solution and progression in anti-moiré diffusion includes an existing tool box of frame solutions and the capability to work within your set design aesthetic and develop a solution tailored to specific goals.

We have capability to furnish powder coated, laminated, and anodized fascia elements on a custom quoted basis.
