Screen Innovations Blocks Ambient Light with Black Diamond

Now available in a wider choice of sizes, Screen Innovation’s Black Diamond screens provide commercial dealers more installation opportunities with this ambient light rejecting, multi-purpose room friendly technology.

Well before it was trendy to embrace multi-purpose home entertainment spaces and other room environments in which ambient light affects projection video, the Texas-based company Screen Innovations (SI) aggressively sought to provide dealers in both the residential and commercial video markets a choice of solutions that could effectively deliver quality video in ambient spaces.

Living up to the adage that everything is bigger in Texas, the video screen manufacturer has announced it now offers larger versions of its ambient-light rejecting Black Diamond screen products.

According to Ryan Gustafson, president of Screen Innovations, the development of the larger screen sizes is a result of dealers requesting the company offer larger sizes of the screen material.

“At SI we believe innovation means that a design is never complete, just more perfect with each iteration,” he says. “We are excited to announce that plans are underway to invest in and expand our production capabilities to better support today’s large display needs. Our customers asked and we delivered.”

The 1.4-gain screen material is now available in a 120-inch 1.78:1 (16:9) version and a 150-inch 2.35:1 version to accommodate a multitude of installation scenarios. The Black Diamond screen material rejects vertical and horizontal light to improve contrast by as much as 900 percent. Moreover, the material works well in dark room environments by reducing light scatter by as much as 75 percent.

The new screen sizes will be available in the company’s Fixed and Zero Edge families of products. They can be used for traditional 2D installations, as well as active 3D and 4K installations.
