Changes in Workplace Design Equal New Revenue

Code adoption and an office cultural shift toward collaborative environments, create demand for integrated mass notification emergency communication and sound masking solutions.

You don’t have to watch “Mad Men” to recall an outdated office environment. Demands on today’s workplace environments are much different than just a few years ago and these shifts create opportunities for integration firms.

Whether the goal is to save on real estate costs or to increase collaboration between employees, many offices are migrating toward open-office spaces. These free-flowing spaces may trigger better interaction but they also create more noise. There’s a need, therefore, for integrated sound management or sound masking solutions.

Then there’s the grim reality that many corporate campuses need a mass notification emergency communication (MNEC) plan. The National Fire Protection Agency’s (NFPA) code 72: Fire Alarm and Signaling has evolved to include intelligibility as a significant factor when informing the targeted audience of the emergency event. As part of an overall risk plan, NFPA 72 details that all audience members must be reached, with a clear, direct message and it must be communicated in not just one but multiple formats to create redundancy of messaging – ensuring the communication was received.

For integrators, this creates opportunities to solve audio-video challenges.
