Barix SIP Zone Paging Firmware Bridges the Great Divide

Published: 2018-02-22

A new Barix SIP Zone Paging firmware update was announced at ISE 2018.

The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based based firmware update integrates audio and paging capabilities with IP-based telephone systems in a seamless software solution.

“This is a hybrid IP paging and complete SIP solution,” states Reto Bader, vice president of sales and marketing, Barix.

“The SIP Zone Paging firmware removes the constraints of configuring zone paging in a SIP environment, lessening some of the installation ‘divide’ that exists between paging and audio systems. Now, it’s a simple process to register a new gateway [or] to provide seamless integration to the SIP firmware and enable specific zones for operation.”

Barix’s new SIP Zone Paging firmware runs on existing Barix hardware, including Exstreamer decoders and Annuncicom two-way audio devices to provide professional system integrators to implement a zone-supportable paging solution without the need to designate a SIP client for each paging point.

Barix SIP Firmware Update Modernizes Paging Capabilities

Some of the features the new Barix SIP firmware update provides users include instant page routing and communications through the technology’s ability to facilitate these functions by natively hosting the features in the SIP gateway.

Configuration for the instant page capability is only necessary once within the client port gateway firmware to eliminate the problem of costly SIP solution client licenses. [related]

Barix explains an example of these features is when a person uses the SIP phone to dial the gateway number, then they select the zones, which he or she wants to carry the message to multiple loudspeakers simultaneously.

According to the company, other features include the ability of SIP phones to dial into the paging system without a dedicated paging microphone station.

The company adds the SIP Zone Paging firmware represents an alternative approach to its SIP Client Firmware.

Barix’s SIP Client Firmware solution allows integrators to equip loudspeakers and amplifiers with a SIP address to receive calls.

Moreover, with Barix’s SIP Client Firmware, VoIP service providers can also integrate intercom, page and music-on-old features with SIP-enabled PBX telephone systems, and they can achieve control and management of these systems.
