BandLab Technologies has resurrected Cakewalk Software as Cakewalk by BandLab after acquiring the assets from Gibson Brands.
Cakewalk by BandLab replaces the popular SONAR desktop audio workstation (DAW) software. The newly created Cakewalk by BandLab is available as a free download.

Cakewalk Software Facilitates Creativity
According to Pete Brown of Microsoft Windows and Devices Group, musicians and audio production professionals that employ Windows-based computers will benefit from using Cakewalk software because the maker is working with Microsoft. [related]

BandLab points out that its new Calkwalk by BandLab software also includes premium SONAR Platinum features such as the Skylight user interface, flexible ProChannel modules, and an end-to-end 64-bit mix engine.
The company also emphasizes that Cakewalk by BandLab is a streamlined version of SONAR Platinum and certain third-party products and content bundles will not be included.
Existing users that already have specific bundles and products can still use those products with Cakewalk by BandLab.
