CI Fantasy Football League: Week 12 Results and In-Depth Analysis

Published: 2018-11-27

There’s a familiar smell in the air—and, no, it’s not leftover turkey or your mom’s stuffing. Here’s hoping you’ve polished off the last morsel of Thanksgiving goodies by now and have your attention turned to the CI Fantasy Football playoffs. While they’re not here yet, they’re coming sooner than you think.

The good news for those on the outside looking in is there’s still time to slide into the bottom of the playoff standings. And, for those still hoping to hoist that #CIFF18 trophy at the end of the year, there’s still time to improve your standings and forever be known as a fake football champion by your peers.

Here’s a look at where things stand through 12 weeks. Can anyone offer Windy City Wire some advice to help them break through on the win column before it’s too late?

Group 1 Commissioner: Ray Lyons Wins-Losses
Diversified 10-2
T1V 9-3
Z-Wave 8-4
Waveguide 8-4
Savi Controls 8-4
Vanco 6-6
Speco Technologies 5-7
Canon Projectors 5-7
My Team’s Better (CI) 5-7
DigiDaybook 4-8
Digital Projection 3-9
You Need Brand Definition 1-11

CI Commisioner Trash Talk: There was no better example of the separation between the top and bottom of this group’s standings than the 131.2-69.7 win by Diversified over You Need Brand Definition.

Elsewhere in the standings, the top teams kept winning and the bottom half of the standings continued struggling for the most part. Z-Wave and SAVI Controls each won by at least 40 points.

Group 2 Commissioner: Shawn Tobin Wins-Losses
Winning as a Service (AVI-SPL) 10-2
Team Mercil (SureCall) 10-2
HDBaseT-Pain (AVI Systems) 8-4
Magic Skol Bus (Klipsch) 8-4
Banner Clique (CI) 7-5
La Grange Park Perfect Pixels (NEC) 6-6
WC BigTime (D-Tools) 6-6
Team Shelby (Viewsonic) 6-6
TecNec Titans (TecNec) 4-8
Team Wicka (LG) 4-8
Run Like A Gurley 3-9
Ugh Can’t Win (Windy City Wire) 0-12

CI Commissioner Trash Talk: The standings speak for themselves heading into the final week of the regular season. With six teams fighting for the four coveted playoff spots, next week is sure to be a battle.

Group 3 Commissioner: Craig MacCormack Wins-Losses
Team Guhl (Jennifer Guhl-ANC) 10-2
Rolls Royce (Jim Caldwell-Maximus Control) 9-3
The Lukes O Hazzard (Luke Jordan-EAVI) 7-5
Mac Daddies (Craig MacCormack-CI) 7-5
A Case of the Mondays (Matt Camps-NETECH Corporation) 7-5
Team Sansivero (Gina Sansivero-AtlasIED) 6-6
Team Durham (Scott Durham-Yorktel) 4-8
Team Donnelly (Ryan Donnelly-Third Coast Tech) 4-8
Team Means (Jimmy Means) 3-9
Guns N Rosens (James Ballard-Orbis) 3-9

CI Commisioner Trash Talk: We have a new name atop the standings as Team Guhl knocked Rolls Royce from its lofty perch with a dominating 158-99 win over Guns N Rosens this week. There’s lots of jockeying for playoff position at the bottom of the standings too, now that word is out about the eight-team playoff field that starts in Week 15.

The Lukes O Hazzard, Mac Daddies, A Case of the Mondays and Team Sansivero are fighting for the last two spots in the top of the playoff bracket, with only one game separating the four teams.

Group 4 Commissioner: Tom LeBlanc Wins-Losses
Skol Vikings (AVI Systems) 9 – 3
Can You Diggs It (Human Circuit) 8 – 4
Team Luisi (Diversified) 6 – 6
Team Gasparo (Wyrestorm) 6 – 6
Philly Special (Ovation) 6 – 6
Team Ackerman ( Rock-It Audio Video) 6 – 6
Team Pearson (CTG) 5 – 7
Team LeBlanc (Commercial Integrator 5 – 7
Ypsilanti Jesses (Midtown Video) 5 – 7
Team Wells (CCS Presentation) 4 – 8

CI Commisioner Trash Talk: It was a tough week for the commish, considering that my entire CI FF team generated less fantasy points, 39.7, than the Los Angeles Chargers generated actual football points in its 45-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

While Can You Diggs It?!’s decision to boycott Thanksgiving in favor of deep-dive focus on retooling his CI FF strategy paid off, he along with the rest of the league continues to look up at Skol Vikings which bolstered its record to 9-3. We’re in the home stretch.

Group 5 Commissioner: Chelsea Cafiero Wins-Losses
Team Schutzer (Opt Online) 10-2
2 Gurleys One Cup 8-4
Nebraska Taco Corp (Schaefers TV) 7-5
The Evil Empire (Rock Electric) 7-5
Smiling Mallards (InFocus Tech) 6-6
Bitter Donkey’s (InfoCor) 6-6
Mr. McGibblets (CI) 5-7
South Central Mud Dogs (Electrosonic) 5-7
Team HiBoost (HiBoost) 4-8
Team Wynn (Thomas Communications) 2-10

CI Commissioner Trash Talk: Never bank on a Thanksgiving game for that second-to-last win you need to make the playoffs. That’s what we learned this week as SEVERAL of our highest scoring players came in with single digit nothings after totally unpredictable Thanksgiving games.

Whatever, I’m not bitter. Schutzer… you’re my hero. Wynn… are you even paying attention? There’s one week left until the playoffs and for a close 6 teams in the middle, it’s not over yet.
