Joe Parachini of PanTech Design Wins 8 Degrees of AV Challenge in Just 3 Clicks

Joe Parachini of PanTech Design won the first ever “8 Degrees of AV” challenge in just 3 clicks.

We recently asked you to play The 8 Degrees of AV, a new game we created based on “The 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon” (if you’re reading this, Mr. Bacon, please excuse us).

For those who need a refresh: the game involves using Wikipedia’s random article feature to start on a page and, clicking only on other page links, make your way to the “Audiovisual” article in 8 clicks or less.

We did this for a number of reasons — chief among them, that the AV industry could use some visibility, and in order for that to happen, integrators need to be aware of how the AV industry is described. Brand awareness is important, after all.

For Joe Parachini of Texas firm PanTech Design, the AV industry’s growth is critical since it has enough to compete with.

It’s super important with the influx of DIY AV/Voice/Control products entering the market that clients have a realistic understanding of what they can achieve themselves and what they can gain by involving a pro — Joe Parachini.

Joe was the first to finish our challenge — but he did it in only three clicks (“Dender;” “Bus;” “Audiovisual“). His firm, PanTech Design, a Crestron CSP specializing in ADAPT control technology, currently oversees 500 projects with ADAPT.

Joe explains why he loves the AV industry and what he does at PanTech.

“To me, AV is about the intersection of a tremendous amount of technology all coming together and producing precisely what the client is looking for. I’m passionate about ALL technology, and being in the AV industry gives a perfect outlet to play with all of this technology coming together.”

Just because the 8 Degrees of AV challenge has a winner doesn’t mean the conversation has to end here. We charge our integrator readers with the task of seeking to improve awareness of the AV industry — whether that means making edits to the Wikipedia, involving young people, or reorganizing the way you sell services.
