Tech Installers, We Want to Hear Your Scariest Stories from the Field!

Published: 2020-09-30

Between cleaning up after other, less-talented technicians, dealing with last-minute changes to designs, and all of the economic effects from COVID-19, tech installers have had to deal with some frustrating and downright mundane things this year. But did they ever feel scared while on the job site? That’s the question we’re posing once again this year for a new edition of “Scary AV Installer Stories from the Field.”

We all have moments that scare us at our jobs. But what about AV installers? What freaks them out on the job site?

Last year, we set out to find out, and the results were VERY entertaining and, often, rather shocking.

A taste of last year’s article:

Most of last year’s replies had to do with taking a spill of some kind (or almost doing so). We’re genuinely glad to hear that, in most of these situations, everyone came out alright… or, at least, alive.

Take this poor (and lucky) soul’s experience as an example:

A few of the respondents had a story about a time when another person on the job caused them a fright.

Others report strange sightings of the unexplained and, possibly, supernatural. This example stuck out from the rest; fact or fiction? You decide:

We’re hoping you’ll share some of your frightening experiences from the job site, whether they’re lighthearted riffs on rude customers, or serious close calls. We’ll assemble these replies into a new story that we’ll publish at the end of the month near Halloween.

We know it’s been a rough year, so if you don’t want to re-live any traumas, we’ll understand. But hopefully, the result will be a fun article other tech installers can relate to!

So, did you experience anything downright frightening on the job this past year? An unruly customer? A close-call with something electrified? Email me your scary stories from the field or put them in the comments below by October 22nd to be included!
