Video Storm Introduces Wire-free NetPlay Matrix Switch

Published: 2015-04-06

Video Storm is a Dallas-based audio/video manufacturer. The company specializes in matrix switching products for both the residential and commercial electronics industries.

Adding to its product line, the Texas company announced its NetPlay AV media distribution solution.

The NetPlay AV solution is an HDCP-enabled, network-based HDMI matrix that employs H.264 video encoding technologies to distribute media throughout a home or business. Dealers can use the solution in new construction and retrofit environments through its ability to eliminate the need to pull wires to connect sources and displays.

Through its inclusion of H.264, the solution can be used with hundreds of displays and sources. Its features, which include video tiling, video walls, popup video PIP, textual OSD, integrated video and file playback, and streaming capabilities to mobile devices, provide dealers with installation flexibility.

The system is comprised of two parts. The VTX100 encoder unit accepts HDMI sources and connects the matrix system to the network. The other component is the VRX010 decoder that mounts behind a display. Video Storm explains the products connect via standard unmanaged network switches using standard networking connection method. Dealers can scale the systems as their customer requirements change.

Additionally, audio can handled in a choice of four ways that include passing audio through the VRX010 and to amps, soundbars and other products. It supports other audio distribution options, such as centralized and decentralized audio distribution.

The system is compatible with the latest control systems from companies like Control4, RTI and Savant. Video Storm is working with other control and automation companies to ensure the system’s compatibility with their products.
