For many integrators, the first time they heard about ZyCast was when the maker of AV over IP distribution solutions was featured in a Commercial Integrator product snapshot video focusing on its HDGB-8604 8-input HD Encoder/Modulator.
It didn’t take long for ZyCast to follow up with a solution it hopes will attract integrators with customers looking to stream live HD content over the internet. It partnered with Zixi, a provider of video over un-managed networks delivery solutions, to launch ZyCast HDZ-800 HD feeder encoder.
The HDZ-800 accepts input from professional-grade cameras and other sources and is embedded with Zixi’s feeder protocol, according to ZyCast, adding that it makes for streamlined communication with Zixi’s Broadcaster and Zixi-embedded receivers, allowing high quality HD video over standard broadband internet connections between two sites or multiple point-to-point connections.
The big benefit for integrators, according to ZyCast, is it allows them to integrate the HDZ-800 into HD video streaming over standard broadband connections at a competitive price. Zycast expects demand for HDZ-800 for applications in live sound, house of worship, college athletics, professional sports, high-profile ceremonies such as graduations and other live events.
House of worship integrators should pay particular attention, according to ZyCast CEO L.C. Chang. “The ZyCast/Zixi solution allows a main church campus to reach and deliver error-free video services to its campuses in distant communities and even states.”
While ZyCast may be new to some North American integrators, Chang adds that it has a proven track record. “While others are just getting started in offering IP, we are expanding our IP product offerings to our customers in the US and around the world.”
The ZyCast/Zixi partnership is expected to continue with an IPTV Set-Top Box embedded with the Zixi Receiver protocol which the company says is currently in the final testing and approval phase.
