Appspace Expands Support for BrightSign Digital Signage Players

Published: 2016-11-21

BrightSign probably feels it has the digital signage hardware part down.

The digital signage player maker’s recent wide-ranging refresh of its line certainly goes a long way toward addressing customers’ myriad digital signage hardware needs.

Hardware, however, is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to delivering digital signage, acknowledged CEO Jeff Hastings while announcing the revamped player lineup.

“Ironically, we sell hardware. That’s our biggest source of revenue,” he told CI, “but only 20 percent of my engineering staff works on hardware. The rest is on the software side. That’s really where we see our value add.”

Delivering Content Management

The act of actually playing content is only part of what needs to happen in a digital signage deployment. Integrators should be delivering and customers often want help with content management.

That’s one reason why BrightSign partners with Appspace, a content management and delivery platform. Now it’s announcing that Appspace App for BrightSign devices supports BrightSign Series 3 XD and XT digital signage media players.

BrightSign’s new line of XD and XT players using BrightSign firmware version 6.2.63 have officially been tested and deemed Appspace-compatible.
