InfoComm Q&A: Valens to Demo HDBaseT Support of HDMI 2.0 4K 60Hz 4:4:4/HDR, HDBaseT over IP

Published: 2017-06-03

Two big things happened in the last few months for HDBaseT. It joined the AV-over-IP bandwagon and began supporting 4K 60Hz 4:4:4/HDR. Both features will be on display at InfoComm 2017.

Gabi Shriki, sr. vice president of Valens, the maker of HDBaseT, speaks to CI about what the company and the HDBaseT Alliance have in store for InfoComm attendees at booth #3761.

If we learn about only one product innovation in your InfoComm 2017 booth, what should it be?

HDBaseT continues to provide the best performing video distribution solution, supporting HDMI 2.0 4K 60Hz 4:4:4/HDR over a single cable and the introduction of the HDBaseT-IP solution expands topology and architecture possibilities.

Until now, HDBaseT has been optimized for in-room connectivity, and HDBaseT-IP breaks the walls and simplifies cross-floor and cross-campus transmission. Installers can leverage their existing in-room HDBaseT solutions and, with the benefits of HDBaseT-IP, build hybrid video distribution solutions that not only are best performing, but also present the lowest total cost of ownership.

There is no need to re-invent the wheel, since HDBaseT-IP shares the same common management and control mechanism, for end-to-end system optimization and interoperability.

HDBaseT-IP maintains the known robustness and quality of service, and brings unprecedented modularity and breadth of scope to all use cases.

What if we have time to see one more thing?

In addition to HDBaseT-IP and the new 4K 60Hz 4:4:4/HDR design, the HDBaseT Alliance will be hosting 13 member companies, each presenting their own solutions, including some brand new 4K 60Hz 4:4:4/HDR and HDBaseT-IP solutions.

These companies embody the strength of the HDBaseT community, and by visiting the Alliance booth, you have the option to see a gamut of HDBaseT solutions and products, targeting a wide range of installations and scenarios.

It’s a win-win for installers and integrators. These companies will be also running educational sessions in our booth – free to all – as part of the HDBaseT Academy.

What’s one last impression you’d like us to take away from your InfoComm 2017 booth?

HDBaseT is an ever-evolving technology, adapting itself to the needs of the market, and the demands of the sector. The community of vendors, installers, and integrators is incredibly strong all over the world, reinforcing that we live in an HDBaseT world.

The Alliance counts with more than 180 members. The ultimate goal of our booth is to help educate the market about all the options available to them with HDBaseT.
