What was the biggest news story of 2014 affecting the integration industry?

A lot of industry folks were pretty excited when InfoComm announced that Microsoft would exhibit and be a platinum sponsor at InfoComm 2014, and then a lot of those same folks expressed disappointment when the IT giant didn’t demonstrate a lot of symmetries with AV in its booth.

Still, when you look back on it, Microsoft exhibiting at InfoComm is extremely significant.

What was the most immersive trend throughout CI‘s 2014 coverage?

The industry talked a lot about talent during the past year. Integrators and associations including InfoComm and NSCA are very focused on attracting and keeping the next generation of professionals and industry leaders, all while being candid about it being an enormous challenge since the industry hasn’t done a great job of marketing its appeal.

CI decided to highlight relatively young industry talent with our 40 Industry Influencers Under 40 list and we’re proud of the conversations it launched.

What was the most heart-warming story of 2014?

The way the integration community embraced the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge shed light on how tight-knit and fun the industry can be.
