You’ll Be Able to Network Virtually at InfoComm 2020 Connected

Published: 2020-06-15

We all should be in Vegas this week, but 2020 had different plans.

We all should be connecting, networking, making new customers, meeting new people and furthering the pro AV community at InfoComm, but since the universe decided differently this year, we’ll all be logging in to InfoComm 2020 Connected from our homes or offices.

I’ve only been involved in the world of AV for about eight months and I still have many names and faces to put together. I’ve really only been to one conference – the AVIXA Executive Conference – late last year in New Orleans, but many of you weren’t there.

I was hoping to really make some inroads and get to know more people at InfoComm, but I think that networking can still happen, according to Barbara Blaskowsky, marketing director for AVIXA.

In a tweet, Blaskowsky previewed the new virtual networking feature that’s part of this year’s InfoComm. Once the show starts Tuesday at 5 a.m. EST, users can log in, select “networking” on the main page and select the “matchmaking” tab. That will send you to the networking platform where users can search people by name and/or company.

Users also have the ability to virtually meet people based on things they’re interested in, like esports, digital signage, command and control, collaboration or other AV-related topics.

However, AVIXA isn’t making that feature available until the show starts, which again is bright and early Tuesday morning.

So, using some of the same technology we’ve been using to connect since COVID-19 forced shutdowns and quarantines, we’ll be able to network almost as effectively as if we were all in Sin City.

We won’t be able to talk AV over drinks and some gambling, but this will have to do for now.
