AV Industry and Beyond Mourn Loss of Stewart Filmscreen President and CEO Grant Stewart

Published: 2015-10-30

Stewart Filmscreen, with sadness, announces that its president and CEO Grant Stewart passed away on October 27, 2015 at age 60 after battling cancer.

Grant was the grandson of Stewart Filmscreen founder Roy Stewart. Under Grant’s leadership, Stewart Filmscreen made great strides, including the release of LuminEsse “edgeless” rigid front projection system and the Cima line.

Stewart Filmscreen recently released its FIDELEDY Vision screen, which transforms LED wall tiles to create a film-like image.

His wife Mary, who retains ownership of Stewart Filmscreen, and their two children, his father Pat and the entire Stewart family, survive Grant. “Grant will be sorely missed by many in both his personal life and the A/V industry,” says Don Stewart, Stewart Filmscreen CTO and Grant’s cousin.

As the company moves forward, Grant’s cousins, Tom and Don Stewart will work closely with Mary to guide the day-to-day operations of Stewart Filmscreen.

“During this difficult time, we would like to thank all our employees, reps, dealers, and supporters for their many years of devotion to the Stewart product line and to the Stewart family, in particular,” states Don Stewart. “Tuesday was a sad day in our company’s history. We have lost a great leader, an innovator in the industry, a devoted family member, and a close friend. We ask you to please keep Grant’s family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through the grieving process.”

He added that the company as a whole will honor Grant’s memory and wishes by continuing to build upon the rich legacy started by Roy and carried on by Grant, and by maintaining Stewart Filmscreen’s position as an industry leader in projection screen technology.

At the time of this release, a public memorial service is not planned. In lieu of flowers and other sentiments, contributions can be made in Grant Stewart’s name to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX or to the U.S. Biathlon Team, in New Gloucester, ME.
