Gefen is a well-established manufacturer of signal management and signal transmission products.

Adding to its line of signal transmission solutions, the Chatsworth, Calif.-based company has announced its 4K Ultra HD ELR-POL Extender with RS-232, Ethernet and IR (EXT-UHD-CAT5-ELRPOL) and ToolBox 4K Ultra HD ELR-POL Extender with RS-232 and IR (GTB-UHD2IRS-ELRPOL-BLK) products.

Both products utilize HDBaseT to send HDMI signals up to 150 meters. Also, both products support formats such as 1080p, 4K, multichannel lossless surround sound and control, including RS-232 and IR.

The 4K Ultra HD ELR-POL Extender unit transmits 1080p up to 150 meters over a single Cat-5 cable, and 4K up to 70 meters over a single Cat-5 cable (4K up to 100 meters on Cat-6). The company points out that at the receiver end, a 10/100 BaseT Ethernet connection is utilized to enable IP connectivity without adding hardware.

Gefen notes that through the inclusion of its Extra Long Range (ELR) technology, the product supports up to 7.1 channels of high bit rate, lossless audio with no latency.

According to Gefen, its ToolBox 4K Ultra HD ELR-POL Extender with RS-232 and IR is a streamlined product that sends 1080p up to 150 meters over a single Cat-5 cable, and 4K up to 70 meters (4K up to 100 meters on Cat-6).

The product also transmits lossless audio, RS-232 and IR over the same cable. Like the 4K Ultra HD ELR-POL Extender, it also incorporates POL (Power over Line) to allow installers to power either the transmitter or the receiver to streamline the cabling and hardware used during an installation.

Additionally, both products also offer advanced EDID functions and other installer-friendly options to install A/V into residential and commercial environments.
