How PlantTours Communications Solved a Communication Issue for Autodesk Corporation

To show off their systems and products, Autodesk hosts events, summits, exhibitions and tours also helping the community stay ahead of the curve and enhance their knowledge. Through their events, Autodesk connects consumers with the latest technology that is relevant to specific industries. However, just as Autodesk strives to help others, they once faced a problem with an event – where they needed help themselves.

Autodesk Selects PlantTours Communication Solution

The company was hosting a large conference in Las Vegas, where people would come together to learn about the technologies they currently had as well as what was in store for the future. With such a large conference, Autodesk faced the concern of being able to effectively communicate their message to their audience. With large open spaces and thousands of individuals attending, Autodesk was unsure how their attendees would be able to hear their tour guides as they walked.

Charlotte, North Carolina-based PlantTours Communications, stepped in to help. The company sells and rents both one-way and two-way audio and communication systems, allowing individuals to hear in large and loud environments. Its goal is to help customers speak their message… loud and clear. PlantTours helps customers in need of systems for their factory tours, plant openings/expansions, guided tours, trade shows, conventions, exhibitions and many other events.

Autodesk reached out to PlantTours with high hopes for help and got a response from them within minutes. Autodesk expressed their concern and described to a PlantTours consultant that they needed audio headsets for a portion of their tour. With that, PlantTours sent them a free demo kit with a sample of their products to test.

Once the kit arrived, PlantTours hopped on a video call with Autodesk to explain the different products and demonstrate how to use the equipment. After some consideration, Autodesk decided they wanted to rent the one-way systems.

Autodesk chose both the PT-350 and the PT-395 headset options. The PT-350 was designed for low-moderate noise and went behind the head with vinyl earpads, whereas the PT-395 was meant for moderate-high noise and went above the head with vinyl earpads. Autodesk wanted to be flexible so guests could have an option on which headset they preferred. With each headset, a PT-1000 receiver was needed. This product allowed guests to hear a message from up to 200-feet away – perfect for the large event space. For the six tour guides that were present, Autodesk chose the PT-5350 all-in-one headset, with hand-held microphones. These behind-the-head headsets allowed tour guides to deliver their message clearly and efficiently. Along with this, they needed six PT transmitters to send the audio waves to the audience’s receivers.

Not only did PlantTours rent this equipment out, but they also sent two representatives on-site to help at the event. The company sent two individuals out to Nevada, where the three-day event was held. The reps were there to set up the equipment, distribute it to attendees/guides, and collect and remove the equipment for the event breakdown. Ultimately, the reps were on-site to make sure everything ran smoothly. They wanted to be there in the rare case that there was a technological issue, or if someone needed help with the equipment. Luckily, during the event there were no issues related to the products, and the reps’ main purpose was to help with the overall flow of the event.

Due to PlantTours’ communication systems and its on-site help, Autodesk was successfully able to deliver their tours in a large and loud environment. PlantTours was able to successfully solve Autodesk’s communication problems and were proud to work alongside them. The two companies plan to continue to work together on future events and projects.
