Massive LG Displays Welcome Fans Back To Wembley Stadium

Fans are back in stadiums, and so are boos, cheers, chants and the raucous crowds and diehard European soccer fans cheering on the England national football team at Wembley Stadium in London.

The stadium was chosen as the semi-final and final venue of the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the event to be postponed until last month.

Fans were treated to a thrilling Italy victory via penalty kicks, but they were also greeted by a massive new LED installation and one of the stadium’s most significant upgrades in decades.

Installed above the main entrance was an LG LED façade installation measuring nearly 4,600-square-feet and two 2,200-square-foot LED units flanking the larger installation.

According to LG, the high-brightness system is designed for video, image and text for any time of the day and includes a cabinet design that sill allows people inside Wembley Stadium’s Great hall to enjoy the vista outside – even when content is being displayed.

Due to the size, brightness and picture quality, the installations also provide an effective means of communicating with guests and the general public.

LG displays were also installed elsewhere in the stadium in different formats, including indoor signage used for seating directions and other media like live footage, replays, announcements and more.

“Wembley Stadium is an iconic venue which plays host to some of the world’s biggest sporting events and entertainment acts,” said Liam Boylan, Wembley Stadium Director, in a statement. “We’re always looking to improve the audience experience and that’s why we’re excited to add LG’s LED High Brightness signage to our facility.”

Paik Ki-mun, senior vice president and head of LG’s information display unit, said it’s an “honor” for the company’s high brightness displays to be installed at the iconic venue.

“By showcasing our solutions at international landmarks, we’re able to demonstrate the advantages of our advanced LED technology to a global audience.”
