Sometimes this backfires. So far, for Ottawa-based Interactive Audio Visual, diversifying into a new market has paid off big time. Based in Canada’s capital, the firm had long been focused on federal government projects.

Over the past couple of years, however, that has changed says Interactive Audio Visual’s Ian Smith. “We’ve intently focused [on] private industry and in this last year realized success.”

Interactive Audio Visual isn’t done exploring revenue opportunities.“Next year’s focus will be implementing a managed services approach, especially to private industry,” Smith says, explaining that it would be difficult to take that managed service strategy to the firm’s federal government customers.
