Barco Control Rooms, a division of Barco, has made significant updates to its Barco CTRL platform. According to the company, it is the industry’s first fully scalable and security-first control room management program – further enhancing security features and user experience for control room operators.

Barco CTRL is a control room software platform built to simplify information flow management by providing real-time data visualization and opportunities for constant collaboration in a security-first digital environment. It has been implemented in a wide range of industries including emergency services, air traffic control, utility control centers, and security operations centers.

Barco CTRL Enhancements

The latest release introduces several key features:

  • Enhanced Security Protocols – Barco CTRL now operates an Attributed-Based Access Control (ABAC) system, on top of its existing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) system. This additional security layer requires more data to authenticate new users, keeping control room systems whether operators are concentrated or distributed.
  • Multi-head Support for Encoder Sources – Control room operators now have the ability to interact with multiple data sources from their desk. This update opens up many possibilities for operators to move more-freely between data sources while limiting travel time within a control room.
  • Scalable User Customization – Control room operators will now be able to migrate their personalized layout for their control desk across multiple desks whenever they sign in. Increasing user customization and usability simultaneously creates more user friendly control room systems while increasing user engagement.

Control Room Security

“In a time where control rooms are especially mission critical to industries such as utilities, transportation, and security operations centers, these updates are significant for our end users,” says Matthieu Dobbeleir, VP of products and solutions at Barco.

He continues, “Control rooms serve as the nerve center for much of what we do every day and creating an environment where operators can know the security of their data is a top priority and maneuver easily is a top priority for Barco Control Rooms. With these updates, we’ve unlocked a new generation of secure, scalable and simple-to-use control rooms.”

These security updates follow the ISO/IEC 27001 certification Barco Control Rooms received in January of this year for both the Barco CTRL software and Barco’s videowall solutions.
