Editor’s Note The Commercial Integrator team was deeply saddened to learn of the sudden death of Dave Petricig, a beloved member of our industry. Below, his close friend, Joe Michaels of Tebo Store Fixtures, reflects on Petricig’s contributions and legacy.
In Memoriam: Digital Signage Legend Dave Petricig
Our industry’s collective heart is broken, as we have lost one of our best representatives. Dave Petricig was not only a straightforward, trusted rep for all the brands he graced with his presence; he was also an industry mentor to any who asked. Dave was instrumental in helping my team and the team at PingHD to create a simple, easy CMS that has stood the test of time.
For Dave, the goal was never just sales; more importantly, it was giving a leg up to independent businesses so they could have the same tools as the big guys, at an affordable price. His passion for the industry was always evident in his hard work to make our industry a better place. Dave’s reliability and positive energy stood out to all in the digital signage space. The strategic nature of his thinking and his street smarts on how to build a channel program will form the foundation of his industry legacy.
The love that Dave Petricig had for the White Sox, the Bears and his dog, Indy, was second only to his devotion to his family. I was fortunate to travel the world with Dave, not only exploring ways to improve the digital signage experience but also growing our love of food, as well. As Las Vegas is often a show destination, we spent many an evening at Piero’s. I think I’ll miss those moments the most.
The passing of Dave Petricig leaves a void in our industry, but his memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
