QSC Software-Based Dante for Q-Sys
QSC had a lot to tout regarding its Q-SYS Ecosystem of software-based audio, video and controls. The show marked the 10-year anniversary of its introduction at InfoComm 2009. QSC was making the North American debut of the Q-SYS Reflect Enterprise Manager cloud-based platform for remote management capabilities of all native Q-SYS devices and third-party devices. And in terms of integrator tools, another goodie from the QSC booth was its first software implementation of Dante to help streamline system design; previously the Dante card worked with QSC’s processing for medium- to larger-sized systems, but “For smaller rooms using the Dante card, it really wasn’t cost-effective,” explains QSC’s Kristine Fowler. “Now we’ve taken the Dante chip stack and implemented it with the Q-SYS stack and you’re able to add Dante onto Q-SYS Designer, that way you can use the Dante controller or not use it. It comes baked in, the same place you configure your audio, video and control. Q-SYS is software, the whole idea is to do as much through the software as you possibly can. We announced the collaboration with Audinate at ISE, and this is the first product from that.”
